"honk honk"

this, my friend, is a car. not just any car, but THE car. why is it a fandragon? and why did i spend 3900g on it? well, let me tell you.

this is not just any 2002 honda odysey. his name is rick, and he is so inexplicably durable. here's a list of what he's survived:

- accidentally driving onto a fourwheeler trail

- sliding off the road in the winter and nearly hitting a fire hydrant

- a timing belt breaking as he was being driven (if you don't know, this is a death sentence for cars 99% of the time because of how particular this part is)

all the while living in a climate that cultivates rusting like no tomorrow.

so why do we even have him?

he was intended to be a learner car, being bought for cheap and overall not really being too much of a financial loss if we were to crash or he were to break down. however, as time went on, and we learned just how messy the learner's permit system is here, he became my dad's daily driver and earned the moniker rick after the amount of times the radio has played "Never Gonna Give You Up" as we have driven him. even nearly two years later, he's still here, rolling on.

may he roll on for many miles to come, and i am honored to be the one slated to learn in his presence.

all hail rick. all hail the honda odyssey.

but most of all, thank you to dad, who has never given up on him, and has taught me so much about cars in the process.

the true honda odyssey was the memories we've made along the way.

thank you so much, dad. here's to many more miles in the funny car.

A road so rough, this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Just tell 'em we're survivors"
