Biography
When aethers arrived to the Shifting Expanse, their cooperative spirit was welcomed by the lightning flight with open arms. Some, however, immediately took advantage of this, believing the aethers were naïve enough that they wouldn’t notice when they were being overworked - or underpaid. Lantern ended up under dragons who believed such, and for a time, he didn’t notice. When he did, he was naturally furious, but kept his anger quiet until the very last moment. When the team announced that a reactor was planned to run through the bottom of the forbidding Carrion Canyon, a dangerous task that would supposedly have paid off in spades, their managers were shocked to find out that a blueprint to be directly sent to the Excavation Team had been missing, save for a few scraps and dusty paw prints. Suddenly, Lantern was nowhere to be found.
Inquisitive, industrious, and lively, Lantern was a natural choice for the Springs Council, picked directly by Travail for his hard-working attitude and willingness to work as a team. He still acts the part of a fool most days, but those who know him are aware he hides a lot behind the facade. He enjoys tasks that keep him moving around, and is largely responsible for keeping electrical systems in the springs maintained, including light fixtures to set the mood and boxes meant to keep cold things cold. He also believes heavily in innovating and building a better world through technological advancement, and sometimes has to have someone else hold back his ambition before he’s too deep in a project for his typical duties.
