"Beautiful lights and shade from the stars... Please be my guide."

From a very young age, Lunar thought that her and her sister would always stand, side by side. The sisters never knew how to fight with one another, never butting heads with anyone except their other siblings. attached by the hip, she never thought anything could go wrong.

As they grew, she knew something was wrong. Her scales grew in, a lovely blue adorning her star studded skin. Her sister's scales grew in just the same, and they faded, like stars blinking out on a darkened sky. They grew larger, side by side, and her sister fell further, and further, legs not able to carry themselves.

It grew to a peak one night, when her sister disappeared, they went looking, all three of them. When she found her sister, sobbing openly, sitting in a pool of vomit, tinged with blood and black, inky mess, she knew they needed help. Their parents, while never unloving, never quite knew what to do.

So she did what she felt like was best. With her family's blessing, and a comfortable cart, she did what she thought was right. She followed the moon every night, pulling a heavy cart, taking care of her worryingly sick sister, despite her protests.

She would sing.

Under the moon, she would sing. A lovely melody that helped her sister sleep. She would sing her throat hoarse. And she would walk. And her beautiful, shining scales got caked with mud, and her lovely shining hair, matted and dirtied, and she walked. And she sang.

For months, this was the new normal. And she was happy, she was sure. She didn't know how else to be. She was fine, he was sure.

And she finds herself at the edge of a Shadow touched cave, and she follows her way inside. And she hears a beautiful voice, one like every voice she's ever heard, and none at all, and her magic intertwines with it's, and They feel her profound sadness. And she falls asleep.

She hears of a rot, weeks later, from a warm Spiral that have given them shelter. Danae, a veilspun resident, a dragon that became profoundly sick from an illness no one could identify at all. And she feels hope.

She still stays beside her sister. She feels guilty, leaving her side. But there are so many who rally around, to help the two, who have been there for only months. It made her cry, most days. She had never been devoid of help, but it took months for her to be convinced that she didn't need to be there to help.

It was always hard, taking steps away. She was assured that her sister was enjoying a dreamless sleep, but she could never be sure. When she allowed herself to spend hours, eventually even a day without seeing her sister, she finally gave herself the time to become... A dragon, in a sense. She had never felt a freedom to be someone, without her sister, without taking care of her. She would sometimes allow herself hours to read. Her favorite books, rereading old books she never got to, drawing, learning.

It was almost always too much. No matter how stupid she felt, or how frustrated she would get, she would think of her sister, always the bookworm, smart and talented, but body breaking down. And she would always go back, right where she was.

If she was out there, enjoying herself, without her sister, without her other half, she was being selfish. She was sure of this every time she left.

So she sat. And she felt everything. She felt the grief of her sister, her family, herself, the dragons she was burdening with her presence. She felt everything. And through the crystals reflections in the ceiling, she sees the moon. And she feels empty.

And she falls asleep to a lullaby sung by all the voices she's ever heard, and she falls into a deep, empty sleep.
