Biography
"I just don't know what she's trying to say sometimes, you know?"
The two were complete strangers ten minutes ago. They were just going in the same direction, each on their own way. It was a bit awkward walking in silence, so the one began talking to the other.
Frostbloom nodded along as the other spoke. As it turned out, this Guardian was having some trouble with her sister and had been so burdened by it that she'd launched into explaining her feelings on it more or less right after introductions.
"Mm-hm. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean," Frostbloom replied, "Except that I feel like I'm in the other seat."
The Guardian tilted her head at the Gaoler. "How do you mean?"
Frostbloom heaved such a deep and long sigh that his head was hanging by the end of it...only for him to crane it right back up again to gaze wistfully at the sky as he spoke. "Sometimes I feel like...no one truly understands me."
The Guardian's face softened in sympathy. She was about to comment on it when Frostbloom started speaking again.
"Try as I might to express how I feel, I just never feel like the one I'm trying to speak with really gets me. Say, I get a splinter in my paw. Those really hurt, you know? And I express my pain to someone nearby. That dragon might just look sorry for a moment or suggest some way of removing the splinter. Does anyone truly feel my pain? Can anyone really understand me?"
The Guardian's sympathetic frown turned into an uncomfortable grimace as she began to realize how sensitive a soul she was dealing with here. Splinter?
"Who shares in my laughter? In my tears?" Frostbloom went on, completely ignorant to how dramatic he was being. "I open my heart with sincerity, and what do I get in return?"
Awkwardly, the Guardian tried to find a gentle way of leaving this conversation. "Um, so... Sorry to interrupt, but I don't know that I-"
"YES!" Frostbloom pointed a digit at the Giardian, startling her. "Exactly! Exactly that! 'I'm not qualified to speak on this matter.' 'This doesn't really involve me.' 'You're kind of making this about you.' 'I have somewhere else to be.' That kind of stuff is ALWAYS what I get in return!"
Frostbloom's eyes glistened as they began to mist, a sensitive smile on his face. "Maybe... Maybe you really do understand?"
It felt like this guy was putting the whole of Sornieth's gravitational force onto her shoulders as she stared awkwardly at him. A pause that went on too long hung in the air, but Frostbloom didn't seem to notice. He was actually going over an entire monologue in his head. However, it was abruptly cut off when the Guardian stiffly said, "I have to go."
In an instant, she took off and began to disappear into the sky, leaving Frostbloom to gaze on. For a while, that was all he did. Then, he tilted his head as he mused aloud, "What was her name again?"
