When he was little, Melingarn would ocassionally get some terrible nightmares. Of the darkness' forces invading the world of the innocent with a worrying level of success. Some of those nightmares were pretty vivid too. What if it actually happened? What if it was some sort of omen? A warning? The thought of his kind's days being numbered without anyone else knowing felt like a huge weight on his shoulders.

Thus he sought the favor of the deities of light when he came of age. He didn't feel like letting a dark age have the possibility of happening. Sure, he didn't know for sure if it was just a series of normal nightmares that scarred him for life or if it was a warning. A prophecy of sorts. Better be ready for the worst. His lair may be safe since a good amount of warriors and mages reside within, but what about the outside?
