He did not fully understand the circumstances of his birth.
When he hatched, his surroundings were barren and empty of any signs of life. Silence was the only thing that reigned.
World Devourers, he realized—the call of his inherited knowledge. Perhaps he had devoured this world, then.
World Devourers, a rare existence in his universe. They existed to eat, to devour galaxies until void was the only thing left. Nigh invulnerable, and nigh unstoppable. Shapeless beings taking form of the strongest organism on their home planet.
There was nothing left to devour when he hatched. Perhaps there wasn’t enough energy in the planet, or he was just slow, because he did not know how to escape the planet he was trapped on. He figured this should’ve been in the inherited memories, but perhaps he wasn’t developed properly.
Loneliness was the first emotion he felt. He didn’t know why he could feel such emotion, and how exactly he was able to perceive it.
Thousands of years passed by in silence.
The seventh time he woke up from another centuries long nap was the first time he could sense something. Something unique, something alive!
Two beings not of his world. They were much like flickers of light, gathered into one area. Not physical beings, no. Despite his inability to communicate with these creatures, they provided warmth. It was so different from the monotonous years behind him that for the first time in his life, he felt that miracles really did exist.
I am alive. And… I am no longer alone.
