One day, Maple received a vision that his descendants would be blessed with magic. He revealed this to his partner, Syrup, who promised him that they would support these descendants however they could. True enough, each of their descendants, known as a Dark Oak, hatches with power, though the levels of it vary by individual. Their first hatch, Glenys, has the ability to bless other descendants who visit her, which can amplify their existing powers in new ways. Specific patterns on Dark Oaks seem to hold more magic than others, however.

Despite the physical Blindness those with pastel eyes experience, they have extremely accurate visions and often see the future shortly before it occurs. Besides being able to gaze into the future, these Dark Oaks are able to detect secrets around them, whether it be a lost object or a liar.
