Calcium was drawn to the Noche Dulce Clan due to their small size where he could find comfort without feeling crowded. He is a dragon who enjoys solitary flights but indulges the clan's matriarch when she pesters him to join their social flights. His companion is a surly Hoarfrost Mauler, when the two play you can often hear the cracking sound of Calcuim's gem encrusted body tousling against the bears ice shard covered back.

Calcium is fond of the Ice and Plague Flights, the later because of stories his mother told him of her nest and the former because of his love of the coolness of the shadows. He finds the fire and light flights distasteful and makes and effort to avoid dragons loyal to those flights.

During a walk to gather items for an experiment he found a frightened skydancer who had fled a light clan. Calcium took the princess under his wing and back to the clan where she was warmly welcomed. He helped her to set up a library, and the two often enjoy long discussions about books they're reading.
