The clan's local Nature representative, despite not being a Nature dragon at all. Sure, Fern can only manipulate shadows, but it's the spirit that counts, right? And spirit they sure have, gladly adoring every single green leaf and flowering blossom they can find, even if it's mostly from the surface.
Sometimes, as a hatchling, you can feel a call in your soul. It's the kind of call that rings deep and true; a displacement, a need to go elsewhere to fulfill that which you know to be true.
Fern felt it as a child, when they went by another name entirely, one they've since abandoned. They knew the thicket they were born in wasn't right for them. They needed to see the greenest of blossoms and the most verdant of life, and the distant shadow of the Behemoth calling to them more than the shadows ever did.
When they finally were old enough, Fern immediately set out to quench their call; seeking out the Viridian Labyrinth and all of it's foliage. It was there they lived and thrived for a while, as even if they were not innately attuned to the element, the Gladekeeper's embrace felt more like home than the Shadowbinder's ever did. The glory and unbridled wilderness of Nature was their home; they knew it to be true.
...
And yet, they ended up here.
It's true, that after a while, they began to crave more. Having felt fully attuned, they sought to visit new places, to explore the whole of Sornieth with their attunement in tow.
When they heard of the peculiar Crystalcrag, they couldn't help but seek out it's Clan, and see what secrets Rippleshard was hiding.
And, well... It certainly is something.
The peculiar Life here doesn't call to them, and they know there's something wrong with this place; no Tidelord's touch, no Gladekeeper's guidance, not even the Shadowbinder or Earthshaker looked over this cave's peculiar formations. The gods were gone, and distant; this place was it's own animal, and they had a feeling they were messing with things they weren't meant to..
The dragons are kind enough, though. And they feel it would be a misgiving to allow them to stumble blindly as they do. At least if they act as a Nature ambassador, they can advise them to stop messing with the local fauna, so far removed from anything borne of Sornieth.
...Not that they're listening.

...Not that they're listening.
- Though they do respect the Crystalcrag for what it is, they can't help but feel like they aren't supposed to be here and that continuing to mess with the area is going to land them in a worse scenario. None the less, nobody's listening.
- They take yearly trips back to the Viridian Labyrinth in order to reconnect with the flight they feel truly is their home. They don't regret being down in Rippleshard, but they do prefer to at least visit the comfort of the foliage.
- Though they left the Shadowbinder, they don't resent her. They simply didn't feel Shadow expressed who they truly were.
- Brillia was picked up over one of the festivals, and Fern immediately latched onto the critter. The skink can often be found winding around Fern's coils, never too far away.
