Emperor
The leader. A stern but motherly dragon who's been around for too many years to count. Centuries ago, she left her clan, Apatura, located in the Starwood Strand to be with her partner, Angel, as her parents heavily disproved of their relationship. Raised much of Sylphina as her own. The final Apatura Veilspun.

The Apatura or Apatura Veilspun were a subspecies of abnormally large veilspun, a strange genetic anomaly not seen anywhere else. While their exact origin is unknown, they lived in similar conditions to the average veilspun in large clustered swarms. When they were alive, the subspecies resided in Starwood Strand, though as their swarms grew, so did their territory. Eventually, leadership of the clan was placed in the hands of Humber and Iris, with their only daughter, Emperor, next in line. While former leaders followed the strategies of the steady territory growth along with population, Humber and Iris focused on acquiring as much land as possible, securing it for future generations. They encountered little to no resistance in their efforts, aside from a nomadic group of gaolers who they frequently fought with. These relations led to Emperor meeting Angel, the sole child of the gaoler leaders. Quickly bonding, the two went from friends to lovers in a short time, hiding their relationship from their parents. When Humber and Iris discovered Emperor's secret, they were enraged, threatening to remove her from the clan if she didn't end their relationship. Distraught over their reaction, Emperor ran to Angel, trying to find any sort of solution to her situation. Unbeknownst to her, Angel was coming to her for the exact same reason after a similar reaction from their parents. The two eventually devised a plan to run away from their respective clans, wanting nothing but to be together. |

- After leaving her clan she spent years traveling Sornieth with Angel, trying to find some place to settle down permanently
- Eventually found a crater in the Light Domain that they decided was the perfect place
- After realizing they couldn't physically have a family of their own, they decided to form a clan, Sylphina.
- Something happened that led to her and Angel's immortality? The two both still age physically, but can not die.

The Fate of the Apatura Veilspun The Apatura were no stranger to crises. Given the nature of their swarms, disease spread quickly, and supplies were easily depleted. But with the help of their leaders, they were always able to bounce back. This changed when Emperor disappeared. The leadership of the clan stayed within a single bloodline, and with the only heir gone, things quickly fell apart at the seams. Fights with the clan of gaoler's continued, eventually leading to a war that wiped out the majority of both sides. From there, the remaining Apatura were lost in a combination of diseases and famine, leading Emperor to be the only surviving member of her species.

 I eternally adore Emperor. Originally I was gonna clean up one of them, but I ended up just liking it as a sketch page. Angel sighed happily, a gentle breeze running through their mane. It was a very pleasant day, and not only in their personal opinion. The garden was full of the buzz and flutter of pollinators rushing around, feasting on the many flowers that had blossomed as of late. A few bees had landed on Angel too, drawn in by their pink colors.
Plenty of notes could be taken, and sure enough Angel had their parchment and magnifying glass by their side. However, the spring sun was making them a little lazy. Sitting down in the grass, they contented themselves with idly observing. A new sound came from behind them. More of a flapping than a buzzing, something made by a dragon's diaphanous wings rather than a bug's. Angel turned slightly, watching Emperor land at a little distance. "Studying hard?" Emperor asked. "Very. As you can see, it exhausted me." Emperor walked up to them, taking care to avoid putting her feet on a flower. Sometimes Angel wished they too were small enough to step between flowers, and not inevitably crush a few no matter how much attention they paid. "Do you need some help, then?" "If you are offering." She sat down by Angel's front paws, and looked around. "What are we doing?" "Observe," Angel said, with a flick of their tail. "Look around and take in the beauty of our local ecosystem." Emperor nodded, making a show of turning her head. "I shall make the effort." With that, she laid down as well, resting against Angel's legs. A pale yellow butterfly danced in the air by her, having apparently decided dragons weren't a threat to it. Quite the pair of lovely creatures Angel got to see together. I love myself a beautiful Veilspun, and Emperor here certainly fits that bill! For an XXX dragon her genes still maintain a good contrast of colors and shades, and I particularly love how Nightshade Constellation looks on her.

Emperor is pretty cool! Nightshade is a colour I've been looking for more because it makes such great combinations no matter what you use! And Veilspun ladies just have such a great pose. And I read your lore for her, I hope she got to be happy with Angel!

She so vividily looks like something more. An immortal being who walks among the mortal, yet still looks at them with love. She was built from love, her actions being driven by her emotions, and so she still looks at the world with that adoration. She looks like she was dipped in stardust, her claws threading through constellations as she wades through the cosmos. She survived as the sole member, and she continues as the last member. She stays as the breathing memory of it's vestiges, her family being nothing but stories for her to personalize with the fading echo's they left for her.
