binkie and aer sister, grub, were of the first aethers thrown from the astrolab as it plummeted towards the starfall isles. they crashed down into the igneous fields of the ashfall waste, perplexing the fire dragons that found them. while word spread of the terrestrial return of the aethers, the dragons of sornieth weren't exactly surprised. it had been a little under 60 years since the first ancient dragons emerged in the icefield, and four more had come to light since--the most recent being the undertides, only five years ago. so no, the dragons of the world were not shocked when these strange, erratic moth-like dragons emerged from the craters.

and binkie and grub were the first. where grub took to being landlocked quickly, binkie was filled with more labsickness than he expected. he clung to his sister like a burr, followed her from the crater to the molten scar to the cinderslag.
