Eskel

Eskel contracted his curse from Tjoka, years before she came to Clan Seiasa. He's been tracking her down ever since the fateful night they met.

Barely escaping being savaged, he defended himself and chased her off. The transformation happened over the next few months, and he quickly ran from his home and tried to stay away from civilization. As his senses sharpened, he was assaulted by the stimulation of the world and was even more keen to stay away from others, desperate to protect them from himself.

During his hunt for the dragon that afflicted him, he became aware of... something... following him. Rustling leaves with nothing to cause movement, soft scents blowing past his snout, ethereal whispers catching his attention - these things felt real, but he was unsure if he was being driven crazy or if something truly was there.

Finally, on a night lit by the full moon, as Eskel was desperately trying to keep his mind from losing itself in the fever of bloodlust, she came to him. Glowing, lit from within as if filled by starlight, she wrapped herself around him and for the first time in months he felt peace flow through his body.

She asked him questions, kept his mind from the numbing curse, and he told her his story. She offered to help find the one who cursed him, explaining her ability to traverse large swathes of land quickly and invisibly. He agreed.

She led him to Clan Seiasa, where he was intercepted by the Luminary, Vissla. She offered to guide him through the Hewn City, as she usually did for travelers, but Eskel demanded to see one of the new clan members, Tjoka. She agreed, asking him to wait while she spoke with the Clan's Matriarch BlumenKonigin. He explained his story, calling for Tjoka be exiled, cast away, killed even - so he could enact his vengeance and rid himself of his curse. Konigin refused; Tjoka had become indebted to a clan member and was to spend as much time as that member deemed fit making up for her actions.

Enraged, blinded by hate and the suffering he had gone through from the loss of his family and his ability to walk within civilization, Eskel was sent into a fury. As he lunged towards the closest dragon, Whisper showed herself and knocked Eskel into sleep.

When he woke, he was in the Medical chambers, being tended to. Ashamed at his lack of control and the way he had lost himself, he thanked the Sawbones and was planning on leaving the territory as quickly as possible. Maybe, he could be fine on his own. Staying away from others. Hiding in the depths of the wilderness and living out his days.

Whisper came to him again - she had been speaking with the dragons in the Magic Quarters and The Observatory. They were interested in the two of them, and had petitioned Konigin for an invitation to stay. Because of her calming presence on the Moonbeasts, they were happy to have the two become members of Clan Seiasa.

Similar to werewolves, Moonbeasts are influenced by the moon. However, there are major differences. All have a permanent beast-like appearance and by night they “lose control” becoming primal, savage, bloodthirsty, and destructive. The degree to which they lose control depends on the phase of the moon.

Physical features such as claws, fangs, and muscular build might become exaggerated and more pronounced as the moon phase progresses towards Full. Some Moonbeasts have worked so hard to discipline themselves that they only lose complete control on nights of a Full Moon.

Lightning: The only type that finds some protection and relief from cloud cover. Since the Transformation is caused by moon phase instead of moonlight, keeping from the moonlight typically offers no protection. Yet, for some reason, Lightning Moonbeasts are able to control themselves more easily in cloud coverage. Many reside in cloudy regions as a result.
