Biography
Corief
I am sure you have heard jokes, at one point in your life or another, about useless skills or classes like “underwater basket weaving”. Well, Corief is the underwater basket weaver you were warned about. Every day, he slinks down the tunnels into the waterway below the lair, dives underneath the water, and works all day weaving reeds into baskets. He claims that he does this for a multitude of reasons: that Tempura’s coral farm provides a soothing background for him to work alongside; that by working underwater, he can ensure his baskets are waterproof; that being so close to the reeds gives him a constant supply of weaving material. Corief is quite possibly the world’s only, and biggest, advocate of underwater basket weaving.
…Or maybe not. Because Corief’s eyes linger a little too long on valuables. Because Corief is a little too good at appraising the value of goods. Because there’s almost no market for Corief’s niche, and yet somebody is buying his baskets. Because ever since Corief joined the clan, things have started disappearing just a little more often. Because Corief looks a little too much like the face on the wanted posters in the Sea of a Thousand Currents.
Under the guise of being a harmless weaver with an interesting niche, a master thief is working in the Clan of the Striking Bolt, under their very noses. Nobody sees his intentions, and nobody knows his endgame. Is he planning some great heist, to steal a treasure the clan doesn’t know it has? Is he laying low, hoping the authorities get off his back and leave him alone? Is he genuinely retired from crime, and his old habits are just dying hard? And is Corief even his real name?
And just who has enough interest in his handiwork to buy all his crafts?
