Lotus

Lotus was born on the Starfall Isles, and spent her hatchlinghood immersed in the ways of the arcane. Although she did have some talent for magic, and enjoyed trips to the Astrolodome and Oculus to see mages at their work, she was more interested in the mechanical underpinnings of the world around her. Instead of playing with the magical toys she was given, she would often take them apart to try to understand how they functioned, and would occasionally get in trouble when she couldn't put them back together again.

There were plenty of mechanics and engineers working among the mages and astrologers of the Isles, and no shortage of resources to support scientific study in the Isles' many libraries, but Lotus nevertheless felt her path in life lay elsewhere. Somewhere where her interest in mechanics might be valued for its own sake, and not just for what it could contribute to the pursuit of magic. So once Lotus was grown, she packed her trusty toolkit and began a long journey east.

After days of travel through toxic, windy, and blistering terrain, Lotus reached the Shifting Expanse and made her way directly to the Tempest Spire. She'd heard that the Stormcatcher was always after more employees to work on his various projects, and thought there was no harm in trying her luck. A thorough interview and skills test later, she was being offered a position on the reactor team, and shortly after that, she was being shown to her workstation by one of her new colleagues, a Tundra dragon named Pneumonia.

Upon hearing that Lotus had only just arrived on the Expanse and had yet to find a place to live, Pneumonia insisted Lotus stay with her clan. Lotus quickly settled into a life that suited her down to her bones: working on the reactors with Pneumonia, helping her new clanmate Shock with maintenance tasks around the lair, and assisting clan leader Parsnip with expanding his hydroponic garden.

After a long day, Lotus likes to relax with a pot of herbal tea and a nice book, and she is often joined in this by clanmate and fellow bookworm Potato.
