The Przewalski's Horse is most commonly found in Mongolia/Central Asia. These horses have 66 chromosomes while domestic horses have 64 chromosomes. If the two were to breed they would be able to produce offspring with 65 chromosomes. They are nicknamed the Mongolian Wild Horse and were named after a Russian explorer who discovered them in the 1800s.
They are extremely social animals and will have herds with one stallion for every 4-10 mares. Mating stallions will not start looking for mating partners until the age of 5 while females are able to give birth at the age of 3 with a gestation period of 11-12 months. The foals are able to stand within a half hour of birth. They are not weaned till 8-13 months after birth and reach sexual maturity at 2 years.
