Shifter is a gaunt, wide-eyed gaoler. An owl of a dragon, perrceptive and pensive. He was foumd nearly frozen to death in the cold of the tundra by the gaoler who would take him in as her own. Crone. The Warden-Overseer. Stern but melting like spring frost whenever she looked at him. She named him her heir, celebrated him as her blood, taught him how to run an outpost.

He was clever, organized, good with all the paperwork, able to multitask, strong and dogged. He worked shifts in all positions, learned every gear of the outpost.

Buf death...haunted him. Hung over him like a dark cloud, like claws poised to strike. His dreams frequented by dead glassy eyes of a corpse of a stranger he'd seen over the shoulder of a dragon he'd known nearly is whole life. When it came to it, Shifter dreaded delivering any sort of final blow on an enemy. Even a shade, when in the right shape.

A secret he hides from his family, from his mother, from the dragons he is meant to eventually lead in the struggle against the shade.
