galerum was born lucky. he cannot help being a descendant of two very powerful dragons--ones he'd heard stories about his entire life. one, a powerful trickster god themself, luck. the other, a kind-hearted magical being, polvorón. with powerful blood on his mother's side, the magic the gods posses has hardly diminished as it is passed town through each generation. as such, galerum possesses the ability to manipulate light and shadow, though primarily in an aesthetic way, and has uncanny good luck. luck so good it is somehow frequently bad, the backswing of a gilt pendulum. their mother is the head of a shelter outside frosthome, welcoming all with a warm and steady kindness, and it was from her they learned generosity. she was stern but good, trusting but not unwise. clever, observant, bold. galerum was raised on her heels, helping run the shelter as soon as they were old enough to not be bothersome. his father is a consort, glittering and wily, and it was from him that he learned decadence. his father was not always around, but when he visited the shelter he commanded the room. even dressed in commoner's garb, a clandestine visit to one of the many dragons who held his heart, the room seemed to shift around him. his laughter was liquid, as welcome as the wine, and it was he who cultivated galerum's gift for song, nicknamed his son "renowned," a hope turned foretell. galerum reached adulthood a few short years after their father stopped visiting. a part of them held a great bitterness for him, another part felt the same for the weight of responsibility their mother placed on them. they played music most nights in the shelter, giving their mother the tips to keep the shelter going but tucking just enough away to not be missed, to keep their dream of adventure alive. when they told their mother they were leaving, it was the first time they'd ever seen her cry.

renowned does not know if he gets himself into situations or if it's trouble that seeks him out like a hungry stray. the line between seeking out danger and simply not taking proper care is very fine, and he walks it confidently. the journey between his home city in the clouscape crags is long and arduous, but luck itself is ever on his side, for better or for worse. |
