biography.
"Gale, we're not suppose to be here!" A young Mirror called out from behind a Gaoler, who looked like they were on a mission. The Mirror, dressed in slightly ragged clothing, huffed and pushed forward.

"I know I know. We're not suppose to be here. But no one stopped us, right?" They said, looking back the the Mirror. "Come on Dex, I just want to see if the rumors are true. And if they're not, we'll be out of here before you know it." They gave Dex a charming smile, which made Dex look away and give another huff.

"Fine.. But you owe me!"

It was only 10 minutes later when they happened upon a clearing in the tangled, warped trees. Gale looked around, looking for something. "W-what is it you're looking for again?" Dex asked wearily, his voice shaky. Gale didn't answer, too focused on looking for whatever it was they were looking for. Dex remembers vaguely Gale talking about a carving in a tr--

"Found it! It's this way.." Dex jumped at the sudden outburst from Gale, but quickly followed behind them. He'd rather not get lost in here. "I just want to know if this thing is real or not." Gale said, pushing branches and shrubs out of the way.

The further they went into the thick foliage, the more dread they felt. Dex was showing it, fiddling with his claws, his breathing shallow and fast. Gale, on the other hand looked cool and calm. Their eyes were focused on the path ahead, though alert to everything around them. They felt the dread just as much as Dex.

"M-m-maybe we should turn back.. This doesn't feel right.." Dex stuttered out, tugging on Gales braids softly. Gale let out a shaky breath.

"Yeah.. I don't like this.. Let's turn back. Follow the path we blazed. We should be able to find the way ho-" Turning as they spoke, Gale quickly-- almost unnaturally so-- shoved Dex under them, letting out a low and deep growl. Dex was confused. What's going on? He's only seen Gale act this way once before, and it wasn't good.

"Gale? Gale what's happening?!" He exclaimed, trying to wriggle free from under them. To no avail. He couldn't see what was happening, or what even got Gale so protective, but the dread. Oh the dread. He could feel it deep in his gut. He didn't think it possible, but he could feel it on his scales.

"Dex. When I say move, I'm gonna need you to run. Got it?" They demanded, which was odd. "I mean it. You run, and run until you're back to the clan." Dex nodded, his breathing out of control. "Don't look back." They paused, moving an arm to brush against his. Something they do to calm him when his anxiety was flaring. But this felt different.

"Move!" Gale yelled, rushing forward and letting out a terrible roar. Dex ran, just as Gale demanded. He could hear crashes and thumps, of which he could only imagine what was going on. He ran, and ran, and ran. Never once looking back. Just outside of the clan grounds, he collapsed. The last thing he saw was a dark shadow calling his name.

His eyes fluttered open, the light blinding him slightly. "Oh good, you're awake! We were starting to think you'd never wake up." he recognized that voice.. It belonged to Emilio, the clans doctor. "I'm glad we found you when we did. You were beyond exhausted. You almost ran yourself to death Dex." He said, grasping his shoulder. Emilio gave him a somber smile. "There's someone you should see."

Dex furrowed his brows, looking around the doctor and to Gale. "Gale?" His throat was dry, voice hoarse and body aching. But nothing could keep him from Gale. "Y-you're ok!" He sprung up from the bed, tightly hugging Gale, who let out a small chuckle. Dex felt an arm wrap around his shoulders.

But.. Gale never hugged with just one arm. Pulling away, claws wrapped around Gales shoulders, Dex's heart dropped. "Y-your.. Your arm?" Dex choked, a large frown plastering his face.

"Yeah. That thing was no joke. I think it just wanted to be left alone, so it taught me a lesson." They joked, earning a slight smile from Dex. "Truthfully, I didn't even feel it take my arm. It just kinda.." They made a pop noise. "Gone." Gale wiped the few tears that fell from Dex's eyes. "Don't cry, you'll make me cry."

"But-"

"No buts. We're both here and alive, and that's all that matters." Gale hugged Dex, wrapping their tail around his other side.

"Why'd it have to take your dominant arm?" Gale let out a heartly laugh at Dex's statement.

If they learned anything that day, it would be to trust your gut. Don't fight it. It often knows more than you yourself know.

notes.
 › Cosmic/Eldritch entity
 › Technically a shapeless horror
› But they take on a vague, draconic shape most of the time
› Their most prominent feature in any shape is the glowing light that
ooooocuts through them
› No one truly knows what they are, other than just.. darkness
› Dragons of Sornieth that see them in their territory call them "The Anomaly"
› Dragon that have seen them also report unending dread in their presence
› The Gods and Goddesses of Elysium watch them closely
› They haven't done anything to warrant.. Imprisonment, yet
› Can travel though space in a flash
› But is usually on Sornieth, from what Inanis can tell
› Their body is dark as the night, and littered with "stars"
› From Inanis' understanding, their body acts somewhat like a black hole.
› Though it seems that they can control what they take in
› which is why they haven't completely destroyed Sornieth or other objects
 › Namesake

not me getting attached to dragons that don't exist
