天竜 is one of many spirits resides in the Viridian Labyrinth, home of the Nature God, Gladekeeper. Spirits can take on many different forms but under the guidance of Gladekeeper, most spirits in the Nature region took the physical form of imperial dragons to interact with creatures who could not otherwise sense the spirits. Their physical form made themselves more approachable for the creatures of this realm. The Gladekeeper appointed different task to each spirit based on their personality and ability.

天竜 (てんりゅ) protects and maintains all rivers which run through the Viridian Labyrinth. Being the first spirit to follow Gladekeeper, the name 天竜 was bestowed upon the river spirit. Because of this, the river which 天竜 spent most of his time was named 天竜川 (てんりゅうがわ).

天竜 means sky dragon. According to the teaching of Gladekeeper, all rivers start from the sky.
There is no river without rain.
There is no rain without clouds.
There is no cloud without the sky.
There are rivers because of the sky.

天竜's familiar is a young water sprite who resides in one of the smaller braches of 天竜川. Water sprites of this region are shy but are curious by nature.
