Biography

Maristela
Code Breaker of Stars

───────────────

"Tough. Luckily, we don't really have that practice of wish staying secrets here. Hm? Is it usually practiced in Sornieth? Well, this isn't Sornieth, yet it is. Don't think too hard about it!"

Maristela has long since settled on a wish to successfully publish a collection of tales from the Everlasting Secrets. The problem is that the constellation likes to tell her actual secrets from other dragons not of the Divine Shrine, worse yet in code, which makes her sigh far too many times. Never let it be said that Maristela isn't a tough nutcracker; she'll crack the nut of codes, and then some.

Spectral Scales
Maristela is a mischievous and affectionate dragon who's good at star-reading and even better at talking. She has a fine balance of calm and attitude in her personality, able to be straightforward in the strangest of manners. The strangeness is a good thing with how unexpected it is, potentially a side-effect of all the odd tales she's grown up hearing of — from Sornieth, from the Divine Shrine, and a constellation often dubbed the Everlasting Secrets. Although she's grown to be well-versed in her field, she's quite humble. Some might think that makes her easy to manipulate, but Maristela shows any such individuals that she is firmer than a rock bed. Her integrity regarding confidentiality means that she will reveal no secrets, not even to family. Being a grounded dragon at heart, Maristela is glad that the stars have some sense in them when they tell her any, as it would not do to know those of the Divine Shrine or Sornieth's deities.

The first of Azhi and Evenfall's second nest, Maristela was quick to attune herself to the night sky. She picked up on her parents' practices at a young age, and her medium of divining messages turned out to be direct verbal communication with the constellations. The one she was most favored by — thus the one she spoke most to — was the Everlasting Secrets, which took a liking to her jokes and how she never had or would spill a secret on purpose. The nature of this meant that she had to meditate outside in order to concentrate, and that led to her meeting Umberto, an avid fighter of a hatchling who knew to shut up during Maristela's sessions. They ended up friends over time. Maristela found herself supported by him when she took to inscribing the non-confidential thoughts of the Everlasting Secrets, despite her being unsure of whether to publish it for the public or not. It helped to have somebody willing to fetch more writing materials and candles when she was too engrossed in writing. He even managed to crack a few of the easier codes.

When Umberto, now her mate, brings up the idea of moving for the sake of their personal growth, Maristela finds herself more in agreement than expected. The stars will still be there, and if she meets other seers, it'd be good to gain other perspectives and interpretations of what she's managed to jot down. Together, they follow their neighbors' recommendation for a certain Arcane clan, where there will be at least some who know of the Divine Shrine.
