Biography
As I found myself on the beach, I ran my fingers through the sand, letting it fall like the rain. Whispers came from mouths of sea foam, and the waves stirred along the coast. I could not understand what she said to me, as I was but a child then. As I sat there, I let the sea blanket me in its embrace. Strong arms pulled me away, and I let out a cry at the sudden distance between us. My mother simply carried me away, oblivious to the thunderous crash of disapproval from the waves.
Older but still no wiser, I see the sea only as it is, not as I once saw it. "It is just the water," I mutter, "nothing more." The waves stirred in disapproval, but otherwise, there were no whispers to be heard. Perhaps it was simply a consequence of being forced into a religion that was so twisted from what it once was, that it became a hollow shell of what it intended to be. A wave caressed my skin at the thought. Perhaps I was right in thinking this after all.
Approaching the beach, I stand on the fine grains of sand, walking towards the ocean with confidence. I listen closely to the sea, as I once did before. The waves paused, roaring to life shortly after, rushing to my legs like a mother greets her child. I smile before I hear her speak. "Welcome home my child," she rumbles in a voice not unlike the waves. I smile, simply thinking it is because of a life I once had. "It is good to see you again," I reply, stumbling as the sands shift beneath my feet. Sea spray greets my face and she laughs, "oh you humans, always stumbling like newborns upon my shore." The waves quieted, and as did she. I couldn't understand her sadness as of yet, but I would very soon.
My inheritance made itself known by crashing into my life, like a tidal wave crashes into a cliff face. Everything suddenly made sense, and I resolved to visit the beach once again. The waves roared and churned, a being making room for her, the absolute of the sea. Waves taller than I crashed onto the shore in a chorus of roars and rumbles. She was greeting me, this I know. The sea calmed in front of me, thunderous waves parting to each side. She knows I am fragile, yet I am not afraid. "Hello Thalassa," I smile. The waves churn higher and crash harder against the shoreline, sea spray whipping into a frenzy across my face. An enthusiastic greeting, but a very welcome one. I can feel her grin upon the waters, "so you finally understand?" I smile hearing the other being groan in annoyance before I speak.
"Yes mother."
