Inkspot
She/They
Courageous | Distrustful | Generous | Loving
Personality and Interests
Inkspot has some deep-seated issues with fear and distrust. While she can work through her fears, she struggles to trust strangers. They've decided that this is honestly fine. While most dragons and Beasts don't deserve it, there are always those who would sell you to the Shade for a soggy corn chip.
Outside of her work, she enjoys reading while cuddled up to her clanmates. She frequently reads to the hatchlings. They're very popular since they're one of the few adults who do voices for each character.

Biography
You'd think someone with a fear of dying would run from a fight. Maybe they'd try to protect someone else but never seek out conflict. That wasn't true for Inkspot.
Yes, she feared death. That didn't mean they would ignore the horrors brought by the Shade. They'd spent a long time with the clan's familiars as a hatchling. Whether it was learning from the Beasts that had joined their clan as familiars and trusted companions or playing with the animals, they always found comfort. It only made their first meeting with a monster worse.
They had gone out to play hide and seek with a few other hatchlings. It had been such a normal day until they ran into the chipskink. It looked just like the one they played with back home, so the young hatchling approached without fear.
They didn't realize their mistake until it turned on them. The traces of the Shade had driven the animal to lash out at anything around it. The tiny aberration had tried to protect her heads and vulnerable belly, but she couldn't fight back. The only reason they survived is that the hatchling minder had come to gather them up for lunch.
The adults scolded Inkspot, explaining exactly what the Shade did and why you had to be careful. Dragons had enough magic to resist most of the time, but many creatures didn't. One of the centaurs in the clan had taken the time to explain that yes, even highly intelligent creatures were vulnerable. He had once fallen prey to the influences. He had been trapped, fighting against his will for so long. He had been ready to give up. But then the warriors in the clan came along and fought until he was free. While his companions chose to go back to the herd, he had no one waiting for him. Instead, he chose to stay and help out his new friends to repay the debt he felt he owed them.
Hearing this changed Inkspot's view of the world in an instant. The trauma of the attack had left them struggling to sleep, but they knew what they could do. They could fight back.
It took time, but they eventually learned how to overcome their fears. Her hard work paid off, and now she fights to free monsters from the taint of the Shade. She is still afraid, but she feels that she must do it.
