Biography

Iridiana

Two weeks later, the crew was still trying to figure out what to do, and they were running out of food.
"Okay, yesterday we decided we were definitely not going to run off to the Sunbeam Ruins, since Iridiana..." Cascade stared at a sheet of paper. "Wow. Since Iridiana stole museum artifacts from the Lucious Brightley archaeology center."
"Bo-ring." Called Nami.
"It's harder then it looks! That place is very high security."
"What'd you steal anyway?"
"Ancient medical equipment. As a gift for my partner, at the time. "
The dragons gathered on deck laughed. Iridiana grumbled. "It's no weirder than the things you steal on a regular basis."
Mattea held up a talon. "Ahem. Look here." She pointed to the intricate map that Iridiana had drawn, which was now marked with dozens of inky black Xs. Each X showed a place where they were wanted.
It's all right, Iridiana. You have other maps. It's fine.
"So, we're not going to Churnscar Wharf, NEVER going to ANYWHERE in the Tangled wood. Ever. And not to most other places honestly. We've privateered ourselves into a corner."
"At least there's a corner!" Said Mab, ever the optimist. "There's a bit right there-"
"In the middle of the sea, where everyone except for Cascade would drown." Iridiana's patience was wearing thin. Of course they should be abandoning piracy, of course it was logical, but now there was nowhere to turn at all...
"What if we tried the Goldclaw Village? They take everyone, regardless of background."
Nami smirked. "Yeah, if you want to join a clan bigger than the Nature flight. My brother went there, came back knowing how to play guitar, weave a basket, and speak Coatl. No offense, Iri."
Okay. Maintain composure. Try to get a word in edgeways. State your case. "I think we should disguise ourselves. It's the only way we can move somewhere habitable and not go to prison for the rest of our lives. We have the money for it, and we have a semi-professional costume designer to help out."
"Semi-professional?" Seren gasped. "I'm offended, Iridiana."
"Point is, Seren can make us disguises. And it's not like we don't have the materials." Iridiana eyed the floor, beneath which lay a plethora of, well, an extensive treasure trove of weird fabrics.
"That's not a bad plan, actually..." murmured Cascade. "Can I write us backstories?"
"Cassie, darling. This is an actual thing that we might ACTUALLY have to do, we have to be serious."
"Ooo, let's make Mattea a stuffy baroness with a silly accent." Nami said. Mab giggled.
Nami went on. "And Iridiana can be a healer! You know, since they're boring."
"I'm already a medic, Nami."
"And Mab can be...A florist."
Cascade's eyes grew wide. "And Nami can be a coffee shop owner...fascinating..." They gazed at Nami, almost as if they were trying to imgaine her as a barista.
Mattea rolled her eyes. "Okay, let's be serious. How in Sorneith are we going to disguise the most notorious gang of pirates in the world?"
"I have an idea!" Mab jumped up, fluttering excitedly. "We can disguise ourselves like a bunch of aristocrats! They'll never suspect that!"
No one said a word against it.
"All right. Sure. Let's pick a location in the morning." Cascade said. "Now off to bed with all of you! It's almost midnight."

Later, while the rest of the crew was asleep, Iridiana was wide awake in xer room. Iridiana's room, like most chambers on the ship, was small and cramped, but xey made the most of the space by filling it almost entirely with maps of sorneith. Xer latest project involved cross-referencing maps of the Southern Icefield to create a more accurate one. Which was hard, because not a lot of good maps existed of it, due to it being a wasteland.
Iridiana shuddered. "Hope I never have to go there." Coatls like Iri prefered warm sunshine any day.
Yep, Coatls like you. Hope you like the hot ocean sun.
Iridiana pushed the thought away. "Back to mapmaking." The mountains in this map were located closer to these two clans, with arrows surrounding the larger clan. What did that mean? Was it bad?
Suddenly, there was a heavy knock on the door. Iridiana jumped, sending papers and quills flying.
"Relax Iri, it's just me." Seren opened the door a smidge. "I just wanted to see if you were all right. You're usually asleep by now."
"Shouldn't you be asleep?" Iridiana snapped. "Or do you not sleep?"
"I don't, but you absolutely should." She looked at xem sadly. "What are you even doing?"
Important things, Seren. "Making a map of the Icefield. I want mine to be more detailed then all of these ones." Xey gestured to the small pile of maps at their feet.
Seren nodded. "Well. I'll leave you to it. Just a quick question." The Snapper dragon turned her head to the large map of Sorneith pinned to the door. "Why haven't you included the Ashfall Waste? Aren't Coatls from there?"
Iridiana froze in place. Xer feathers flared. "Seren, get out of my room."
"But-"
"I said get OUT!"
Seren scrambled out the door, much faster than usual. Iri didn't actually notice this, but she darted into Mab's room for shelter.
They went back to work on their map.
