Dawnthorn was more than she appeared. Many saw her as an old crone, sporting no hatchlings or mates of her own. Which she was fine with. She didn't need things like that, not when there were other, more pressing matters to attend to. The first time that she noticed it was when she was alone in the Sundial Terrace. The way that the light seemed to almost... dance to her commands. It was subtle, the shift of beams here and there. But before she could really understand what was happening, Arpeggio appeared and it stopped.

Since then, Dawnthorn devoted her life to finding out what it was that had happened that day. Could she really bend light? Or was it just a fluke? She got her answer in a brilliant surge of magic, light sparkling all around her as it settled like a fine mist. She couldn't help the laugh that left her, overjoyed to discover her magic. But... a new question came. Why did she have it?

At Night - Max LL
Dawnthorn seems like the type to be very serene, finding peace in the silence of the night, thoughtful and welcoming to anyone who may approach. She's an old soul who has long left behind her younger days. That song reminds me of her, the exact reason is unbeknownst to me, but it seems fitting to her kind.

With G1 dragons that don't have parents, I like tryin to incorporate that into lore... Sooo given her strange, powerful abilities, I'm thinking perhaps. Spit-balling here, but maybe her parents were part of a larger group of powerful light mages, dedicating their entire lives towards honing and perfecting the craft of light magic. Pushing it past the bounds of what was ever though possible. Trying everything within the bounds of their creativity to find the utmost limit to their abilities...

...And maybe they pushed too far. So much powerful light all in one condensed location, growing stronger by the day, has got to break at some point. And perhaps this led to the destruction of them all.

Save for a survivor - an egg that would become Dawnthorn, born with great power infused into her before she was ever near hatching.
As she grew, she doesn't remember much of her hatchplace. She knows she was found by someone who took her in and raised her as their own, though. She never once thought to question where she'd been beforehand, or what happened to her biological parents.

That was until, once she was far older, she truly discovered her magic. Absolutely fascinated by it, yet rather confused, Dawnthorn began dedicating her efforts to finding out exactly where it came from.
How did she get such power? How come she had never felt it until now? Why doesn't anyone else have any clue?

Theories have been thrown around, but all of them seem so unlikely.
"A curse?" Some have suggested. What kind of curse would be so enthralling? So... relatively harmless? That can't be it. Not to mention she would have no idea who would have cursed her or why.
"Perhaps it's tied to one of Oracle's omens?" Guessed others. No, no, surely not. If Dawnthorn's abilities had anything to do with the misfortunes seen by Oracle, obviously she would have been told so already, right? Also, again - it's relatively harmless! What damage could bending light possibly have?
...Right?

Oddly, though, no matter what she tries... There's almost no evidence of what could have sparked such power.
As though her birthplace, and all ties to it, have seemingly... disappeared.
How strange.

(Regardless, it's a rather frustrating process. She's getting old. She's running out of time. She can keep up appearances rather well around her clan, never taking out her irritation on those who do not deserve it, but the stress might be getting to her. Or it might not be. Maybe she's not actually all that pressed about it. I dunno.)

-Old lady
-Oracle's adoptive mom
-Found new magic within
-This magic counter Dayax's but she need to fully learn it
