Biography
Diago
Diago is the son of a blacksmith and a burn healer, which means as a hatchling, he was constantly burning himself in attempts to take after his father and having his mother need to patch it up. To avoid keeping this up forever, he chose not to become a blacksmith like his father, and instead chose to train in the trade of being a repairman. And his parents fully supported this decision, because they were as tired of patching him up as he was of hurting himself.
So now, Diago spends his days with his claws in the walls, trying to rewire circuitry back together. It is other dragons’ job to build things — dragons like Snappy, Selveen, and Cadfael — and it is Diago’s job to fix these things when they break. And given the sheer amount of electricity running through Electrician’s Edge, things tend to short-circuit quite frequently. And when they do, all his clanmates have to do is holler his name, and he’ll come running with his toolbox to put them back together again.
Still, fire runs in his veins, and he has experienced more than enough burns in his hatchlinghood for a lifetime. Diago keeps most of his body covered with clothing, desperate to do whatever he can to prevent himself from getting more burns. Electrical burns are his biggest fear, considering his occupation. His mother has told him more than enough horror stories about the electrical burns she’s had to patch up, and Diago lives in fear of becoming just another one of those stories.
At the end of a long day of running from one end of the lair to the other, keeping everything in tip-top shape, Diago knows he can come home to his mate, Talene, who’s always hard at work dipping her claws in water to carve and shape pottery. The watery clay she works with is almost an antithesis to his work, and coming back to their den to watch her work is the most soothing part of his day.
