{ He/They }
Born as the prince and heir to their former clan, Yahenni was once revered for their beauty and keen mind. Utterly spoiled with wealth and knowledge, there was no tome left untouched, and still-- always-- they were thirsty for more. A quiet, taciturn shut-in as they were, no one really noticed the young prince going missing for ever longer periods of time, shutting themself in libraries or observatories alone for hours on end.
They found tomes full of strange musings, philosophies, equations, coordinates. Tomes which spoke of secrets in the stars, of power to be gained from them. Such power, however, always comes with a price. "You cannot alter your fate, my prince," the wisest of their oracles, an 'auntie' of theirs, had told them; and whatever she said next, they largely tuned out - something about beasts hiding in the spaces where starlight doesn't reach, and Yahenni opening themself to such things would only bring them trouble. The young prince assured their auntie that they did not fear death, that the knowledge they could find would be well worth the sacrifice. As Yahenni left to return to the observatory, the oracle muttered something about worse things to fear.
It... it wasn't supposed to be this way.
Yahenni was never one for the pomp and circumstance, the events, the nuisance of simply existing as royalty. As a child they dreaded the coming of age ceremonies that their parents constantly chattered on about; the day they would make their public debut as the clan's heir, and the years that would follow would be spent preparing to ascend to the throne. How awful it sounded, how boring. And yet... as they sat at their tome-buried desk within their family's observatory, finalizing calculations between peeks through the lens, Yahenni found themself... excited. The day had come, and they would all see what their young prince found. It wasn't... it wasn't supposed to be this way. There were no beasts between the stars, Yahenni told them; in the void lay infinite untapped potential, magickal energies waiting to be drawn down by hungry hands. It could be harnessed. It could be beautiful. Yahenni would show them, and they would understand. In their fragile hands, they summoned a small orb, blacker than black, which held nor reflected any light, and held it aloft for their kingdom to see:
There was no sound, only chest-caving pressure; the rushing of hurricane-wind without the wailing howls to accompany it. Time slowed to a painful crawl; colors-shapes-buildings-bodies all stretched to infinity.
Blinding light. Blackness. When Yahenni awoke, they were somewhere else; still within the Isles but nowhere near home. It would be a long while before they moved; their arms had been all but destroyed - soft flesh and lean muscle decimated and withered. Their body and magic was left corrupted and near-unrecognizable. They resigned themself to death; a paltry punishment in the face of what they had committed. Yahenni had no idea what became of their home, but they could not bear to return. All manner of rumors and tales circulate in more populated Arcane territories of the Fallen Star, the Mad Prince, the Black Hole Son who caused half of a kingdom to disappear; and Yahenni hides farther and farther away from it all.

__________{ x | x } I'm never gonna stop loving you, If I could, I would have done it by now; We circle like salmon in holy pools, Gathering speed until we can't slow down; A crystalline encampment in the Starwood Strand, this small clan was formed between Abraxus and Yahenni. Although forming a clan was not their intention at first, Vilde Chaya has become known as a place of safety for the ostracized and outcast dragons of Sornieth. Yahenni was so sure the Nightcaller would kill them, and, well, they would have welcomed it. If they'd had the strength - and a bit less pride, Yahenni would have begged him. Instead, the handsome Ridgeback seemed to pity them, they assumed, and brought Yani to what would become their new home. Yahenni wasn't really sure when he fell for Abraxus, if it happened gradually or if it hit them all at once; but once they could walk again they gravitated to his side, the only thing Yahenni knew in a stretch of unfamiliar Arcane wilds. He was ferocious, and almost seemed more beast than dragon at times, and a bearer of terrifying Arcane power to boot. But he was passionate, altruistic and gentle beneath his feral countenance. To watch him in action was beautiful; and though he often preferred Yahenni take the lead on decisions, when Abraxus put his mind to it, he truly was more brilliant than he gives himself credit for. Serene and quietly authoritative, Yahenni fell into a leadership role with an unfortunate ease. A role they never wanted growing up, until they finally did... and when they did, it ended in disaster before it could even begin. They were truly afraid to be a leader again. But as others straggled into Abraxus' territory, and opted to, or were allowed to stay, it soon became clear someone had to lead this fledgling clan... and who else but the first two on the grounds, after all? Many of Vilde Chaya's denizens are unsettled by them, if not fearful; though Yahenni understands this, and in fact expected it, they find themself a bit heartbroken at the notion. Truly they love their new family dearly, and would do anything it took to keep them all safe.

Arwynne, the Phylacterist The status of Yahenni's birth clan is largely unknown after the incident, but loyal advisor Arwynne remained, somehow, and found him weeks later. |
Illuna of the Strand, the Leyreader She claims to be Yahenni's "sister from the stars," a phrase which is still a bit of a cryptic mystery within the encampment. |
