Umi is just like the ocean himself. Second only to the great atmospheric archangel, Cihuate, Umi has made a name for himself for his two-faced attitude. To more spiritually and religiously inclined dragons, he is known as the driving force and duality of the sea. Kind one moment and disastrous the next, it seems that Umi’s mood is delved into an ever-lasting war. Umi tends to be sympathetic for the right causes, but often makes snappy decisions that cause him to get rid of kind people on his seas, which he always regrets. He’s spontaneous, spotty, and difficult to predict.

Despite the cause of concern among the religious, he is still one of the highest respective archangels. It was Umi’s slight defiance in leaving “accidental” magical residue in the ocean, after all, that led to coastal mortals gaining magical abilities akin to the gods in the first place. Unlike Mariel, however, Umi isn’t one to be pushed around. Even Cihuate sees his little sibling as a force to be reckoned with and, as such, the sea archangel got off with a warning. Umi enjoys the sea floor more than he does the High, but he will visit it from time to time to see his remaining siblings. He loves the animals that inhabit the ocean, and will often dance with them. It is said that when one disrupts his dances by overfishing, he unleashes powerful floods and tsunamis.

Only one individual has ever intentionally interrupted his dance. Just one. Umi would prefer to forget her existence.

AXUS (Superior) - “You are the only god that has never interrupted my dances. Axus, are you kind, or careful not to bring more calamity onto the world? You mean well regardless but don’t oversee your Cihuate intently. Not to worry. I will keep him from doing anything you wouldn’t approve of, but I might take some creative liberties.”

KLEMPERER (Co-Core Ambassador) - “I learned from the best! Or, technically, I was created from one of the two of the best! You and I both know that in the court of law, no evidence means no meaningful trial. Other than that, well, I enjoy our occasional conversations when your Brother is around.”

COMMODORE (Superior) - “Please quit having your little stage plays on the edge of the shore. I hear them all the way down here. It’s saddening to hear, in a terrible way.”

LESTER (Superior) - “Please don’t speak to me. Please leave me be. Your squeaky voice, it makes my head pulse.”

AENO (Superior, Co-Core Ambassador) - “You bother to come down here to me, instead of the other way around. You don’t do much, but I can see it in your eyes. You know I did it, but you won’t say a word. Is it because you’re prideful? Or still in awe? You still play chess with me, so do you really mind…?”

PLUTIO (Superior) - “If you steal another one of our fish again… I’ll… I’ll… sniff.”

CIHUATECAYOTL (Superior/Brother) - “One has to know the rules to break them and, thanks to you conveniently laying them out in your questionably written constitution, I have it all to find loopholes within. Technically, Clause H of the Cabinet Cases does not cover what counts as an accident and whether or not intention causes it to deviate as an accident. Technically, I don’t have to follow these orders unless activated under Mandate HILL. Ha! That’ll keep you guessing.”

POLNAREFF III (Subordinate/Brother) - “Oh, you have a passion, but I would rather be apart from it. My sea life is not yours to toy with, if you ever intend to use it that way…”

KAURI IV (Subordinate/Brother) - “You’re brave, Kauri. Braver than me. When I heard that you hosted mortal children, I thought it was another one of your strange speeches, but you were being honest. You had mortal children and, for a short time, lived a mortal life. The gods, they can get away with it, but you? You’re so bold, Kauri. I weep for your strength.”

MARIEL XI (Subordinate/Brother) - “Even though you shouldn’t exist, even though dragons deserved their freedom, I can’t fault you for it. Instead, I want to help you. I cry every day, knowing it would be impossible without arousing suspicion. If only I could. I am sorry.”

SORA (Intrigue) - “You’re the opposite of her. Is fate playing me again?”

BEANSIDHE (Former Friends) - “Beanie! I’m sorry! If only I were a bit braver, and more of a dragon than an angel. When I did what I did, I swear, it wasn’t to harm you. The damage has already been done, but still, p-please listen…”

“VOID” (???) - “So, it worked. I don’t know the repercussions of your spell, [REDACTED], but at least your heart beats. You have vengeance in your soul, and by all means, I hope you act upon it.”

“HAVESOMETEA” (???) - “I sense you, even from all the way down here. Which one do you plan to terminate first?”

TYRIUS (???) - “They didn’t need a spell for you. You’re just too much like your father, aren’t you?”
