Biography
Lore Workspace
At first it was an adventure! The river made a clear path to follow and the spirits of the group were high, including StormRunner. The trees gradually became shorter and shorter and the group realized they might have made it out. For the first time in any of their lives they were free! Everything was new and they expected everything and nothing all at once.
A few days into their travel, the clan started to notice more drastic changes in their new environment. Soon enough, the purple tones were sucked from the leaves of the trees they knew back home. Odd bulbous and oozing plants took root where once there had been soft ferns. It wasn't long before the party had regrets.
"Yeugh... the river water is absolutely nasty here..." Fusion spat as he padded to where the others had set up a makeshift camp. "I do not recommend that spot over there."
Ryot glanced in the direction of his wing gesture and shrugged. "We can probably find a spring or something."
"I sure hope so. That was revolting."
It was not long before numerous other issues began to surface. The group was quickly beginning to run out of food and they knew almost nothing of their surroundings and what was safe to eat in this new landscape. The red packed earth they were on now was hard on the eyes and an eerie silence settled over the seemingly empty wasteland they found themselves in. To make matters worse, Fusion became violently ill and the suspicion among the party was that the water might be dangerous.
By day four of wherever they were now Tangled Woods were merely a dark smudge on the horizon. They were beginning to move slowly from fatigue.
"We might have to turn back." Calliope sighed looking out across the lumps formed by resting dragons as night fell. "It may be our only option at this point."
Ryot ignored her, pretending to be asleep. She didn't want to give in. When she heard Calliope softly snoring next to her Ryot opened her eyes keeping her head still on her front claws. Maybe the tundra was right. Hot tears of frustration sprang to Ryot's eyes. Maybe this was not where they belonged, but there had to be somewhere. And she would find it.
As a beaten red sun inched over the horizon, the camp began to stir. Each day made it harder to get moving and Ryot saw a few of her friends shaking slightly or stumbling as they tried to prepare for another exhausting march through the heavy atmosphere of whatever-this-place-was. She turned away guiltily as Fusion began to stir and Sunsetting had to support him once he was on his feet.
Eventually, all eyes turned to Ryot in expectation of what she had planned next. She knew she couldn't push them like this any longer. Nervously she cleared her throat.
"It is becoming clear we cannot stay in a place like this."
Nine pairs of eyes glanced back and forth.
"I don't think we should go any farther this direction."
Some of the dragons immediately nodded in approval and Ryot felt some relief.
"Well... do we just go home now?" Destination cocked his head to one side.
Ryot glanced around, grasping for a shred of a plan. "We will uhh... we can go that way." She nodded off to one side.
A few dragons appeared more skeptical of this suggestion but none outright made any more worries known and the group trudged onward.
In a relieving turn of events, the water became cleaner as the party moved north and east, though the exact direction they traveled was a bit of a guess by ShockChaser. Fusion began to recover, though Calliope had burned through most of her supplies tending to him the past few days.
