Born of a wandering clan, Everglade chose to stay with Rippleshard due to their generally welcoming nature and the clan's founder personally bringing him in. He mostly works with Rosedust, helping the clan's records and archives.

His clan was a band of wanderers, who migrated flight to flight. Born in their longer stay in Fire, he couldn't find himself clicking with them; their migratory fashion just didn't feel right, and his parents...
Well, they weren't awful. They were a bit cautious and a tad bit distant due to their work, but that was the worst of it. He'd stay in his father's library most of the time, leafing over the scripture they carried with them, and would often be told not to stay too far lest he got hurt.
He's still unlearning that, really. He's still worried about getting hurt, and tends to fret over things he can and can't do. Even after he's long since left the clan, he's trying to get used to being on his own and without supervision.
Carboden is really the only reason he ended up in Rippleshard. He noticed him fretting to himself, and the two of them had a long talk; both of Carboden's current endeavors, and of Everglade's current situation, trying to be on his own. It was Carboden who suggested he join them; to find some sort of purpose, and get used to being on his own with others around.
Sometimes he regrets it. The clan is perfectly welcoming, but it's surrounded by water, and he can feel his embers being smothered. Still, though, he's happier here than he was elsewhere. Maybe he'll eventually leave the clan, to go find others who can take him in easier, but... For now, this is enough.

• Everglade uses Amber's surface gate in order to avoid going through the water. He doesn't like how it dampens his flames.
• He's actually rather close to Amber, due to their shared aversion to water despite being in an aquatic clan, while also being another Obelisk. He pities her condition, but does think the glimmering gems are pretty... (He eventually does become mates with her !)
• His work with Rosedust is mostly keeping his scrolls orderly and uneaten. He doesn't do much recordkeeping, but he makes sure it's actually accessible to the clan. He finds it warmly nostalgic, although he doesn't try to think too hard about it...
• Glimstick was brought in by the clan after a trading post visit, who immediately latched onto Everglade. The clan jokes that they think Everglade is a very big Troodo due to their similar colorations, but he's starting to think that maybe it's actually literal...
