Generation 3 - Zahavi > Ophira > Dunlow > Uriel

Add_a_subheading_2.png

Crowley + Aziraphale > Eve > Uriel

Optional Lore:

Uriel fancies himself a proper Yang even though the purple on his torso may say otherwise. He believes himself to be a powerful angelic creature with powers beyond his parents' imaginations. He hasn't exactly tested that out much other than miracling himself a sandwich (which is actually just his dad, Dunlow, in an invisibility cloak and a few magic tricks). But he's pretty sure he's powerful.

Dunlow likes pampering his kids, but he may be going too far with this whole miracle thing. When Uriel is on his own, he will quickly realize what a fraud he truly is.

Iridescent/Facet/Opal Spiral Uncommon Eyes

Lore Notes:
  • Still assumed he was a Yang for quite some time
  • Spent a long time with his parents, thinking he could show off some more to them
  • Was more than a little surprised when a letter arrived for his mother (the serpent seal certainly had him curious, until he heard it was from his aunt Samhain)
  • Apparently some yin/yang descendants had found a home in the Tourmaline Archives (specifically along a river next to it)
  • Immediately he decided he should go (if only to show off to his yin kin)
  • Wound up hesitating when his father protested (unaware his father was the reason he did so well with miracles)
  • Didn't expect a somewhat small spiral to pop up one night (nor did he expect her to know his name somehow)
  • She convinced him he should go to the Spire, where she lived (he has no clue how she knew he wanted to go there, though he did catch her reading a manuscript when she wasn't looking at him)
  • Left a note for his parents, then went off with Melek (who he eventually wrote back to explain was an aunt from another nest, much to his surprise)
  • The trip was smooth sailing for the most part, though he did sneak a peek at her manuscript (he was scared off by the line he read; "When that the yang readeth these words of mine, with kin of light and dark entwined, then lessons must be taught. Read no more, foolish chylde of light, and lette the wheel of Fate turne. Answers will come with thyme.")
  • The words he read bothered him, but he mostly left it well alone to try and focus on showing off his abilities with his kin (he never questioned why they seemed to work still, even if it was only when his aunt was around)
  • Got swept up by the Grand Scholars when he arrived at the Divided Spire (shocked to learn he shared a name with one of the scholars, who seemed almost spectral in nature; weirded out by the fact he seemed to know the Spiral would actually show up there)
  • Soon swept up by Samhain (another aunt) to be doted on while Melek got his things settled in his new home
  • Found out through her that he wasn't technically a real yang and, instead, was just a dragonized ineffable (or really seemed to be one; she even showed him how it was likely Melek that made his miracles on the journey there)
  • Ofc he was upset, and spent a lot of time sulking while other scholars (and his own kin) as they tried to help him find his place in the Spire (he tried just about everything that didn't involve magic with what he could only call varying degrees of failure)
  • Questioned why his youngest aunt Melek rarely slept or ate sometimes, but didn't really think too much about it (he had his own problems, and felt he couldn't really help if she had some sort of insomnia)
  • Wound up having nightmares after a few failed attempts at finding his niche (he went to get help for it, but even Sanja couldn't figure it out)
  • Wound up visiting the aunt that seemed to be the strongest when it came to magic (Melek, of course, was that aunt; he tried his other aunts and uncles there, but they could only do so much; he still kept the pillow one of them miracled for him, though)
  • Melek had her theories of course, but she simply offered to let him rest in her nest for the night (she assured him she was used to reading the night away draped over some of the furniture in her home; he didn't question it seeing as she was reading some old scrolls while hanging upside-down on a coat rack in the corner when he came in)
  • Tied himself in a knot around his pillow and fell asleep almost immediately with the promise that Melek would wake him if it looked bad (he worried she wouldn't notice, but she seemed sure she'd catch anything untoward)
  • Wound up having another nightmare he couldn't quite explain, waking up the entire hall when he jolted awake (Melek indeed woke him, though it seemed he also woke himself; she seemed to know more about it than he did even after he had time to reflect on it all)
  • Only managed to convey bits and pieces of his nightmare, which Melek seemed to take very seriously (she wrote down a lot more than what he just said, though none of it seemed to be some sort of deep dive into his psyche; in fact, it seemed like she was able to fill the blanks of his dream, alongside theories as to what different things meant)
  • She told him to write what he remembered of his dreams in a dream journal to try and find the source of the problem (she also insisted he use a record rune to record his sleep talking, which he didn't know he did; she also insisted she read everything written)
  • He eventually got a record rune from one of the stronger magic-wielders in the dream track so he could get a glimpse of his own sleep talking (he was almost scared of what he'd read)
  • The next time he had a nightmare, he darted to the rune to read what was written (he thought it'd be gibberish, or maybe something about one of the many cats in the aviary)
  • "The yang trapped in dragonized scales need only ask his namesake for aide, for then will his potential shine through." (as it turned out, it was not in fact gibberish)
  • Thoroughly freaked out, he ran to Melek for advice (he should've probably expected her to bop him on the head for asking when he'd said it to himself in his own sleep; go to the Grand Scholar named Uriel)
  • After a short (yet stern) talking to, he went off to find the nearly spectral hound-like scholar named Uriel (it was more difficult than he thought, seeing as most students thought he was a ghost himself; he wound up having to ask the coatl Razael to show him where to find the guy)
  • He was scared at first, but having another drake with him helped give him courage when he went to speak with Uriel (he was a little off-put by the fact the odd pearlcatcher seemed to be somewhat transparent; the weird broken pearl definitely scared him more)
  • Eventually revealed his issues to the two scholars, from the nightmares to his own lineage and his distinct lack of magic (it seemed to shock the both of them; it made sense until they continued to remain confused by his explanation of his own aunt filling in the gaps for him)
  • Was asked if any of these dreams, nightmares or not, seemed to predict things (he didn't know, but some searching in the dream journal showed that was a big maybe)
  • Eventually presented with the fact that maybe, just maybe, he did have magic after all (he didn't believe it, but the idea of being a seer of sorts despite his flight really did intrigue him)
  • Eventually enrolled in the track that would have him be taught by his namesake (even if his namesake had to teach through another dragon)
  • Turned out to be decent at predicting things (which surprised him a little, though his sleeping self seemed to be better at it)
  • Found himself mulling over his sleep talking statement (yang trapped in dragonized scales had to mean more with finding his potential, right?)
  • Was going to go to Melek only to have her find him first (she seemed to have been waiting for him, though the fact she'd taken the whole day off just for this was hard for him to believe)
  • Wound up being dragged off to his namesake by her, claiming she'd learned something new through him (he didn't even get the chance to question why she didn't seem to have the same ghost fear most students had)
  • After a great deal of talking (and some partially organized chaos), he found out what their big breakthrough was (he wasn't as surprised to find out the two scholars were mulling things over about his big prediction about himself)
  • What if he wasn't fully dragonized (he'd assumed scrolls would help, but they were expensive, and he never did get the chance to actually get a proper one)
  • They tried scrying him to get as much of the color away as possible (much to his gem pouch's dismay, seeing an iridescent body and opaline gaps along his little noodle-y body)
  • He'd settled on the idea that it'd be an expensive endeavor, and likely futile (no way was he going to spend so much on a gamble; he wasn't about to let them donate the scrolls to him either)
  • Left them to their musings to think of some other solution (surely there had to be something he could do; maybe something that didn't make his gems cry)
  • Melek eventually hunted him down (once again seeming to know where he was despite his best efforts to hide)
  • "Would you want to look like that? No scrolls, no gems. Just... be the yang you were meant to be?" (he didn't know how to answer her, really; even a hatchling would know you needed a scroll, and an expensive one at that, just to look that way)
  • Eventually said yes, but that he was tired and wanted to rest for now (if only he knew what would happen while he was awake)
  • Dream had him change in front of his own eyes ("I'll help make things right." was something he knew he heard in the dream, though he doesn't know if that happened to be something Melek said as well)
  • Only remembered Melek was in the dream too (he only knew it was her because the thing he saw had her voice; he has no idea what he should call the thing he saw, nor does he know if he wants to know what it was)
  • Didn't really look himself over as he went and got ready for his classes (nor did he question how he seemed to just know where his lost favorite quill was; under his spiral drape hooks, caught in some silks meant to catch him if he fell during a nap)
  • Simply went off to try and focus on his class (didn't question the looks he got in the hall; he knew he looked different, but he figured it was likely because he rested fitfully)
  • Was only concerned when he got to class, only to shock even his own teacher (his namesake certainly looked shocked, but he knew that shouldn't be a thing; his namesake could see possibilities, after all, and whatever he was seeing now had to have been one of them)
  • Eventually pulled aside by his namesake, letting the other drake continue teaching the class (they also managed to pull Razael aside; Uriel was getting used to the shocked looks by now)
  • Put right into a line of questioning that confused him at first (why would he steal scrolls, and how could he make rip off scrolls when his only hint of magic seemed to be prophetic in nature)
  • Suddenly it all clicked (both what had happened to him and who had done it; one perk of his freed abilities seemed to be better hindsight when it came to his dreams)
  • Melek, somehow, had managed to change what he was (no scrolls, no potions, only her words; a miracle, much like his grandfathers)
  • Still unsure if his tertiary, opaline as it is, would still count as golden enough to be a true yang (there were hints of green after all), but the purple on his underside was long gone thanks to his aunt
  • Now works as an apprentice to his namesake, helping others work through their own prophetic abilities if or when they arise (it helps that his record rune catches what appears to be prophecies in his sleep)
  • Remembered hearing one of his grandfathers loved books of prophecy, and has begun collecting his own nightly prophecies (and the outcomes of those that have come to pass) to make his own book (he hopes some will apply to his grandfathers in some way; he has no clue if they will or not for now)
  • Hopes they get a good laugh out of it (he also hopes he can send a copy to his own parents, seeing as Dunlow's miracles led him to where he is today)
  • Still doesn't know if he's a true yang or a partially dragonized ineffable (at least now he has some magic, and has an aunt to thank for that)
