---Lore---
Zahavi was born into a poor family and as a child, he became a thief to get by. When he was a teenager, he ran off with the circus (as cliche as it is.) While there, he learned about show business and how to amaze an audience, with daring tricks and intriguing storylines. As a young adult, he had his first son, Kaiser. Together they traveled to a small clan that resided in a mountain known as Prism clan, so that they could have a stable home. Prism clan was relatively remote, so most of the dragons he performed for there didn't recognize him from the circus or from when he was a thief. He and his son had a clean slate, and Kaiser grew up performing for Prism clan. Not only did he act but did dangerous tricks that wowed the audience. Soon Zahavi became restless. He wanted to go back on the road. Not only this but he wanted to have a big family that could be with him on the road, who he would see everywhere he went in every audience he performed for. When he met Alexandria, the dragon of his dreams, it all came into place. He and Alexandria were going to have a beautiful lineage.
Zahavi comes off as amiable, but he is a greedy and prideful dragon. So is his son, Kaiser. Alexandria is much different in that she is kind and decent to all. However, she is not without her faults. Altogether they are not a group to get involved with. However, their descendants do not have to be the same. They don't have to be marred with greed and pride. Alexandria hopes that her descendants will avoid the same mistakes that she and her mate have made. To her, the family can be redeemed through their kind descendants, who will do great things for the world.
---Family Members Residing in Prism Clan---
Several of Zahavi's family members live in and near Zahavi's home clan. Below are the stories of those dragons.
Alexandria
Alexandria was born of a prestigious clan in the Southern Icefields. From a young age, she was knowledgeable of the extended history and complex culture of Sornieth as required of her by her community. She was a scholar, hence her name.
However, she never truly fit in with her clanmates. She didn't want to be pious and virtuous, but she didn't know what else she could want. That was until she was sent to a conference in the Sunbeam Ruins along with one of her close friends.
It was in a strange clan of dragons with strange clothes and strange hobbies. She saw several of them playing with cards and chatting loudly and obnoxiously. She wasn't used to this kind of atmosphere, but she found a strange sense of joy out of it.
Near the entrance to the meeting room, she saw a purple Tundra, juggling balls in the air, then torches, then knives. She didn't realize that she had been staring until her friend grabbed her by the arm, scolding her for watching such reckless and frivolous entertainment. She didn't understand why it was wrong; he never did get hurt.
When she looked back in the Tundra's direction, he had concluded, and a golden Imperial stood tall next to him. The Imperial looked in Alexandria's direction, and for a fleeting moment, they made eye contact. In that moment, she felt something deep in her chest that she had never before. It was not admiration but something else, something that her clan despised. She didn't want to think about it, but... she had to learn more.
She snuck out of the meeting room with the pretext that she had to use the restroom and went to find the Imperial. The two of them were packing up to leave when Alexandria found them. She began talking to him.
They talked and talked. Zahavi was a single father, trying to take care of his son, Kaiser while having a fun and adventurous life at the same time. Alexandria was a wildly brilliant, sharp-tongued dragon trapped in a close-minded community. Their conversation elucidated a lot for Alexandria and left Zahavi infatuated.
Their exchange only ended when Alexandria's "friend" broke them apart, throwing verbal daggers at both of them. As she dragged Alexandria away, she finally understood what she wanted. She didn't want her every move to be judged and restricted. She wanted what Zahavi had, and so, she made her decision.
Her former friend was not too happy about Alexandria staying with a street performer in this clan, but she wasn't going to drag Alexandria around anymore. She would go and tell their clan of the frivolous and extreme lifestyle Alexandria was about to lead, but Alexandria didn't care anymore. Her reputation was no longer a priority.
When Zahavi and Alexandria, now mostly referred to as Alex, fell in love, Zahavi told of her of his dream, and she agreed. They were going to have a beautiful family.
As Alex and Zahavi grew older together, Alex began to understand his true colors. Once her idealistic view of him and this life had faded, she saw the greed and pride that festered in his soul and the evil that lived in his son. She sometimes regrets her choice, but she still loves him. He still loves her, but sometimes, she is completely blind to that fact.
Sometimes, she feels like she has taken this lifestyle too far. Sometimes, she feels like she has been in the wrong since she joined Zahavi's side. The truth is she has took another mate in secret.
Persephone is the black sheep in the acting troupe, the only member to not be related to Zahavi. Persephone was the one to take the first move, and Alex fell for her, not in love but in lust. That's why she hopes that her descendants can make a difference and be a good influence for future dragons. She herself could do so, but she hasn't found the strength in herself to, or at least, that's what she has told herself. Truly, she is just making excuse after excuse.
Kaiser
Zahavi was young and lonely. He wanted a companion. That first came in the form of 2 week romance with a fisherwoman named Kailani. She wasn't looking for a serious relationship, at least not with sky or land dweller. Their short relationship brought forth a clutch of eggs a few months later, which caused Zahavi to return. She gave him a choice of one egg, and he chose the one that happened to hold Kaiser in it. His desire for a companion translated from a mate to a child when he held Kaiser's egg for the first time.
The first bit of Kaiser's life was spent on the road with the circus his father was a part of. While Zahavi performed, Kaiser stayed with the circus's manager. Zahavi trusted this dragon, but Kaiser would later recollect the terrible things he heard and witnessed while alone with Zahavi's manager.
This way of life would not suit them for long, Zahavi thought. Kaiser needed a stable home in a stable community. That and for other reasons is why Zahavi decided to settle down in Prism Clan. Zahavi never had to worry about food or having a roof over their heads as Prism Clan provided it all. To get extra spending money, Zahavi and Kaiser performed on the streets of Prism Clan. They were well liked and soon moved to an amphitheater where they diversified their performances until they were mostly acting.
Now, Kaiser is, to put it simply, a real character, a clown, almost. He doesn't care as much about his self-image as Zahavi does and will play any character, no matter how humiliating. He will gladly mock himself and the audience for their entertainment. He enjoys dark comedies the most. He has written a few, but others consider them too morbid and graphic to produce. He is a cynical and somewhat sadistic dragon. He is all of 7 deadly sins in one body. He isn't physically dangerous as some may believe but mentally and emotionally. He is the family member everyone tries to avoid during family reunions.
Aurelia
Aurelia is the eldest daughter of Zahavi and Alexandria out of their nest of four. When deciding where to fit her in their acting troupe, they decided that she wasn't pretty enough to be on the stage. That was the terminology they used. Of course, they were basically saying she was too ugly for them. While Alex played the damsel in distress or the heroic warrior, Aurelia was her singing voice. Aurelia had the voice of an angel, her parents said, and for much of her children, she took her only pride in that.
To her parents' surprise, she grew up to be a beautiful dragon. However, the cruel beauty standards enforced on her as a child came back to haunt her in her adulthood. What her parents expected of her became more and more difficult to fulfill as her age and beauty increased. All of that combined almost drove her mad. It did drive her into what's known as the Abyss.
She left Prism Clan and headed down through the earth. Underneath the fabric on which Prism Mountain sat, existed a dark realm with strange bioluminescent plants and beautiful yet bizarre sights to behold. Aurelia found peace down here.
As soon as Aurelia arrived, she was welcomed by the King and Queen of the Abyss, and she was allowed to stay there for as long as her heart desired. This would end being a long, long time as her heart had found a reason to desire this place so much. The royal guard, Akiro, was Aurelia's type --she was his as well -- and so, they started to date. Their dates were somewhat casual until Aurelia strung the right cord, and Akiro told her everything about him. Akiro too was controlled by the monetary value of his appearance and talents. He had found the Abyss by accident, but here, he realized, there is no monetary value. Here, no one can be used in the same way they both had.
And so, Aurelia stayed and they fell in love. Aurelia is still scarred by her past, but it doesn't mean she can't move on to the future. She urges all of her children to be wary of Zahavi's acting troupe and try to avoid it at all costs. Even better, she urges them to avoid all industries that will use them and abuse them if they don't follow their standards. Some, however, do not follow her advice all the way through, and those are the dragons she fears for the most.
Dunlow
Dunlow was born in the Free Skies Association to his mother,
Ophira, and his somewhat absent father,
Dayton. Growing up, Dunlow had a love for magic tricks, attending every show the local theater offered. When his mother brought him to see a performance by his grandfather's acting troupe, he became enthralled with the family troupe. He made it his goal to join them... However, his mother wanted to keep him close and safe from the big, scary world, so that goal was put on the back burner.
Sometime later, while traveling to a nearby clan with his mother, he met a dragon his age named
Eve, who had supposedly run away from home. Although she was very shy at first, they bonded almost instantly. After Eve was returned to her parents, they remained penpals for the next several years.
Years passed, and Dunlow grew up, practicing his magic tricks for the entertainment of his family and his clanmates. It was a heartfelt goodbye, but he had always planned to join the acting troupe when he came of age, and now that he was that age, nothing was stopping him. He said goodbye to his mother and left for the Sunbeam Ruins to find his family.
Ophira had sent a letter to her father beforehand, so they were expecting him when he arrived. Zahavi accepted him with open wings, and he and the others were impressed by Dunlow's magic tricks. They asked him to perform in some of their non-play shows, and he agreed eagerly.
When Dunlow found himself a base in Prism Clan, he decided to invite his pen pal and oldest friend, Eve, to see his new home. They had not seen each other but a few times since their first meeting, and when Eve arrived, they practically tackled each other in a hug. Eve was in awe of Prism Clan and excited about Dunlow's involvement with the acting troupe, and she considered that her home did not belong with her parents and their cottage -- yes, she did love her parents and her siblings, but she was always a bit of a black sheep in her family, and she related more to Dunlow than she did to them -- And so, inevitable she decided to move to Prism Clan to be with Dunlow. In the following years, the two of them grew closer and closer. They renovated a small tower outside of Prism Clan to live in together, Dunlow coming and going with the rest of the acting troupe. You may call them best friends, but that didn't seem to cut it for them anymore. What they had was more special than that, not romance per se, but a strong platonic bond that surpassed all other worldly connections.
Eve and Dunlow were well settled into their lives and careers until the day that Dunlow was invited to chat with a group of magicians from another clan. While the others spoke about their methods and demonstrated their tricks, Dunlow realized something -- his own methods were much different from theirs. After the meeting, he dug into a few books and found that his methods were entirely unorthodox. Upon some meditation, he came to a shocking realization: he had been performing real magic this whole time and didn't even know it.
The local mages confirmed it to be true. How had he gone this long without realizing it? How had he learned real magic anyway? He had always just mimicked the magicians he saw as a child without really thinking about what he was doing. He must have just been magically inclined since birth. After some more thought, he decided it was best to retire his magic act as there was much bigger fish to fry. He could use his magic for good rather than just for show. He spoke to the lead mage, who said she could help him understand and utilize his magic when she finished teaching her apprentice. Recently, he has begun his apprenticeship as a mage. The acting troupe was disappointed but ultimately understanding of Dunlow's decision to leave the troupe, and currently, he feels happy about his decision. The best part of being an apprentice and staying in Prism Clan is he can spend more time with Eve.
Tefnut
Tefnut’s mother, Eve, was born of an angel and a demon. One would expect an Ineffable like Eve to be super powerful, but she was just a normal, miracleless dragon. She had always assumed either her parents’ powers canceled out or this was a prank on her by their higher-ups. Whatever the case was, she had no special powers. She had always assumed that her children and their children would be just as powerless as her. However, when her first son was born, the sparkle in his eye told her otherwise. Her parents’ powers would pass on.
Growing up, Tefnut was always in the shadow of her brother. Her parents didn’t intend to treat them any differently, but Eve didn’t watch her words carefully enough. What Tefnut learned early on was that Castiel had powers, and she did not. She was a completely normal dragon, relatively speaking, at least. When Zahavi first laid eyes on her, the words that came out of his mouth were “What an odd little girl”. Eve immediately retorted something vile at a stunned Zahavi, something she never did, and stormed off with Tefnut in her arms.
Eve was very protective of Tefnut from then on and frequently smothered her with love and affection. By the time she was grown, Eve had convinced her that it didn’t matter if she couldn’t transform into weird beasts or teleport dragons you didn’t want to deal with. It didn’t matter if she wasn’t some grand stage-prancing creative like the acting troupe members. She was Tefnut, and she had a good soul. That was enough.
Although Tefnut’s powers have still time to manifest, she cares less and less about that now. She cares more about what she can do, which is toymaking. Tefnut has been tinkering since she was little, taking apart things and putting them back together again. Now, she runs a shop in Prism Clan called Tefnut’s Terrific Toyshop. She does love her alliteration.
Regarding Tefnut’s love life, she had always known love to be a bit of an orthodox thing. Although her grandparents were an angel and demon, she didn’t seem to see that relationship as anything abnormal. They were both Spirals, after all, and her great-grandparents from the acting troupe were both Imperials. The strangest type of love she has encountered was her parents' love, not romantic but a close platonic bond that rivaled all others.
However, her perspective on love changed when she met Soraya, a gentle and wise Abberation with one fused soul. Something seemed to click into place when Tefnut met her as if she’d been out of place her whole life, but now she’s finally where she’s supposed to be. She’s finally come home.
With the help of surrogates, Tefnut and Soraya plan to have many children. It doesn’t matter if their children have powers and thrive on the stage. As long as they have good souls, they would be enough.
