Carsis
Seaswell
The Seaswell, a towering wall of water surrounding Carsis, is the only reason the city is able to exist, both giving life sustaining water and a line of defense for it's inhabitants. It also stands as a vital midway point before the most dangerous leg of their journeys into the Shifting Expanse.
The story goes that centuries ago, three fire clans rallied together and launched a violent attack against Carsis while it was still developing, fully intending to burn it to the ground as to not encroach on their border. As they approached, the resident water flight mages gathered together and raised a massive tidal wall around the city, shielding it from harm. Exhausted from this incredible feat, the mages chose to return to the Sea of a Thousand Currents to recuperate, never returning to Carsis.
But this is not true. Unknown to nearly anyone alive, the mages never left. They now live as the Seaswell, their beings becoming the water that surrounds Carsis as a sentient hive mind, unendingly dedicated to protecting their home. Over the centuries since it's creation it has been carved deep into the minds of the city's residents that outsiders can't be trusted near the Seaswell, that they can be dangerous.
The only ones to currently know the truth of the Seaswell are Oasis, the current Premier of Carsis, and her wife Sinnafain.
