Biography
LLANCA VALEVERNE-GREENWITCH
Middle-aged adult
"Sir? Are you ready for your wedding?"
I turned my head to see a faded green Obelisk dragon in the doorway. His mane was scraggy and incredulously long, so much that it was dragging on the floor. The rest of his looks were unkempt, too -- his face was laden with scars and he had some missing teeth. He looked nice in the suit, but that didn't really do much justice if I am going to be honest.
This was Bramble, the head of Vita's guards. I wonder what was my girlfriend thinking, letting her own head guard be so unkempt and not well done.
"I should say so," I responded. My black tuxedo had a sparkly green tie. I wore various nature-themed pines and brooches as well. "Now it's just a matter of Vita getting herself ready."
I started to chuckle. Only, Bramble seemed just as unamused as ever.
That was, until he suddenly smiled. I thought it seemed force. "Oh yes, amusing thought. She's taking her sweet time. I think she genuinely enjoys the day so far."
"Reeeeeaally?" I asked. I then thought I sounded like an overexcited kid.
"Yes, really. In fact, today is the hardest I've seen her smile since five years ago."
I frowned.
That.
Five years ago, the war between our kingdom and the Faithwater Kingdom started. It was over a forbidden relationship between Vita's sister and a royal from the other kingdom. I've known Vita for a long time and she had always been calm, and I can't believe she jumped straight ahead with "defending her sister from the unknown."
The Faithwaters were also adamant about being innocent and defending their own pride. So they clashed back, claiming that no one will hurt their own royal and his lover.
The two kingdoms saw their own citizens being enlisted and drafted for war. I was sure that there were many dragons who grumbled and did not want to involve themselves in royal drama. That was despite how much Vita's warfare committee kept insisting this was to ensure our kingdom has a great future (weird, right?).
In fact, I thought this whole thing was dumb.
If only two sides can just sit down, drink some tea, and decide on a peaceful way to end things. I mean, they did but that was only after a ceasefire.
Bramble must have noticed I was scowling for a little while. "Hot shot, don't worry. You and Vita will work hand in hand to give our kingdom continuous better days. It will be alright, okay?"
Odd. It wasn't that I was mad at the circumstances -- Bramble seemed to be convincing himself more than anyone else. I almost never see that Obelisk smile anyway.
"Yeah, yeah," I said absentmindedly.
"Alright, Llanca. Remember your worth, as our king and representative."
