Rowan is a quiet Imperial who arrived at Ombre Fiore exhausted and shell-shocked after a battle between his clan and another that was brought to an end by a monstrous Emperor; the event clearly still troubles him to this day.
He was taken in and nursed back to health and resolved to train the inhabitants of the clan how to fight in order to repay their kindness. He also took up the role of undertaker in order to prevent what happened to his clan ever happening to his new-found family.

He does not talk often of his life before - or talk often at all. That fateful day has rendered him a mere shell of the dragon that he was before. Whilst he isn't talkative, he can get his point across with a sharp glare which quiets most of the dragons in the clan, with the exceptions of Lily, Reiner, and Skye. Yuki, his mate, sometimes has to remind him that Ombre Fiore is not his clan to rule over.

He suffers from severe memory loss and cognitive issues; he tried to erase what he could recall of the battle, but it backfired due to his inexperience in using magick. He is a physical fighter, so felt it was a waste of time to learn how to control his powers.

He is also ailed by night-terrors and wakes up roaring in fear frequently. Yuki is one of the few who can calm him.
Only the dead have seen the end of war.
