there is something to be said about the sudden realization that all of dragonkind past has been the same as it is now. antigua lives in that moment.

her family is not much more than animals. this she knows is true. though she did not inherit the curse that so often plagues her blood, the hunger was replaced with curiosity. every second age runestone that she stumbled upon was as good as any meal, any safe place to sleep - when she left her pack of siblings, it was with pockets full of knickknacks that meant more to her than any fistful of treasure ever will.

plague doesn't have much in the way of ruins. the ground there is too new, and swallows things whole on the regular, from dragons to whatever they try to build. living on the boneyard is hard, and leaving it is harder. it twists and lengthens before almost all dragon's very eyes. to lose the body there is to lose the mind as well.

antigua loses her mind. and when she finds it again, she is at the edges of plague. when the rot lets her go is standing with a pickax, a second age mural uncovered, with the origins of her family's curse laid bare in front of her. she could have done anything she wanted.

instead, she kicks up the dust. instead she flees.
