On Sornieth there is a tradition among some of the Light flight to hold vigil through the longest night. It is partly a Solstice celebration. For after the longest night, the Light begins to win out, growing in power over the coming months. The most traditional of Light families will nest in the hopes of offspring hatched on that day as the ultimate symbols of hope, heralding the Light's strength. Holly hatched amidst one such celebration. When she opened her eyes for the first time, her family gasped at the primal power shining through her. Deemed an auspicious sign for the future, Holly and their family were visited by many in the days that followed. Some arrived with gifts, others brought food and drink, or provided various modes of entertainment over weeks of celebration that followed, all through the Night of the Nocturne. All hoped to bring home a little of the good fortune that's said to come from visiting a Solstice hatchling of the primal Light. As such, Holly's first days out of the egg were filled with lively celebration, awe, wonder, and a spirit of generosity unmatched. Even their nest mates and their parents were showered with equal generosity - for it wouldn't due to unintentionally foster hard feelings. Simply by existing Holly knew she was giving those around her something intangible but no less valuable than the gifts they brought in turn. That atmosphere of celebration and giddy generosity filled her bone deep and she would carry it into her adult life moving forward. They would be a dragon who inspired such generosity year round. One who lived for bringing or helping everyone around them find the perfect gifts for every occasion. They intend to spread that generosity all over Sorneith and embarked on a journey to do just that. On those journeys, it became clear to them that the most work on interflight relations was needed in The Shadowbinder's realm. At least for a dragon of the primal Light. It is among them and their soft, beautiful lights of bio-luminescence that Holly finds themself now. Not as a teacher. It is not their way to assume superiority. They are here only as they ever are - a spirit of goodwill and generosity, discovering the ways and culture of The Shadowbinder's realm. All while sharing her own warmth and generous gifts with everyone around her in the spirit of mutual respect. |
