Forum Summary: Andesine's parents picked her name before she was born, hoping for a male heir that would marry into the Fire Clan. When she was born, a sigh of disappointment was heard that echoed throughout the land. Even so, there was hope to marry her into the Fire Clan. She was trained to love all things that burned, forced to collect glowing andesine and decorate her wings with it. Instead, a love of alchemy blossomed. Her favorite thing to transmute was the mineral she so hated, something her family greatly disapproved of. Eventually, she cut ties with her clan and ran off under the cover of night to hide out in the Underworld. She now spends her days avoiding orange crystals and red rocks and happily chopping up ingredients for outrageous concoctions that she either collects or sells.

Andesine was born for a reason: To inherit what her parents had built. Hoping for a male heir, the family was sorely disappointed in her existence. At least she could still marry into the Fire Clan, right? And so, from morning to night, she was trained and beaten, the notion that she was useless unless she became the perfect bride seared into her brain. Viewed as a tool all her life, she began to see others as such as well. She has little sympathy for the weak-willed and sees royalty and nobility as hypocrites that are all too ready to dish out punishment that they themselves refuse to endure. A favorite punishment of her tutors was to force her to spend the night in the nearby forest, collecting andesine under the light of the moon. Each time she failed to complete a lesson to their satisfaction, she would add a gemstone to her wings, carrying them around for the rest of the week - even sleeping with them.

Everything changed when her family hired Garret to keep an eye on her while she was in the forest at night. He was meant to be nothing but a guard, but his sympathy for her situation led to them becoming friends. He smuggled books that had nothing to do with her education on the Fire Clan, and through them she learned of alchemy. She became obsessed, testing different ideas using the gemstones she was meant to carry in her wings as punishment. Eventually, she was found out and Garret fired for daring to lead her astray. She left that night. She traversed the kingdom, looking for her old friend, but he was nowhere to be found. On her travels she met Jericho, who saw potential in her and offered to become her patron. In exchange for a home in the Underworld and funding to continue working on her alchemy, she was to provide him with dangerous concoctions, as well as keep an eye out for potential allies in the Underworld. She agreed. She was later asked to take on an apprentice, Phantom, whom she begrudgingly allowed to live with her in order to receive an increase in funding from Jericho.
