Biography

The Raven Kingdom

The kingdom is in turmoil! Sadeaos has taken over!! Indigo and Starshine have fled to [UNKNOWN] and no one knows how or why. The Royal Heirs of the Raven Kingdom remain safe for now, but who know what this new ruler plans to do in order to solidify his position and power!

The land is divided into two factions. The Overworld is defined as areas of the kingdom that acknowledge Indigo and Starshine as the rightful rulers of the land. These areas see little crime and receive protection from the capital as thanks for swearing their allegiance. The Underworld is defined as areas of the kingdom that refuse to acknowledge that Starshine, a member of the Light Clan, is now part of the royal family. These areas do not receive protection from the capital, and thus, see a much higher rate of crime. This makes them a popular home to smugglers, rebels, and mercenaries. While the Overworld also has its fair share of mercenaries, due to increased supervision from the royal army, mercenaries can only be hired for law-abiding purposes. This is different from the Underworld, where one can hire mercenaries willing to act as hitmen.

Since he was young, Jericho dreamed of being in the Wind Clan's navy. He studied hard, graduating at the top of his class at Inkwell University, and quickly rose in the ranks once joining. His promotion to admiral was well deserved, but led to whispers of favoritism due to it happening so quickly after he had joined. Rumors surrounding his unknown origins transformed into accusations of a relationship with the Aergate family, a small royal family of the Wind Clan, that could have pulled strings for Jericho. These whispers reached his friends from Inkwell, and some turned against him, jealous of his success. The remaining were pressured by their colleagues to stay away from Jericho, warned that they would get accused of aiding him with his unfair rise in rank. Eventually, the only friend that remained was Vanoss, the son of a well-known doner to the navy. Vanoss' father, Cinna, was wealthy, influential, and had ties to Circe's temple. This meant that Vanoss was used to the constant accusations of favoritism and bribery whenever he achieved something, so he could relate to Jericho's predicament.

One night, Jericho was patrolling one of the ships when he spotted a smuggler on the horizon. He went to warn a superior and was told to ignore it. Confused, he asked why they would ignore this smuggler when they hadn't ignored any others. He was then informed that this smuggler ship was special, carrying goods meant to be delivered to a fleet admiral in the navy. Jericho watched in horror as the ship pulled up alongside theirs and unloaded, treasure changing hands quickly and efficiently. This was obviously not the first time this had happened. The next day, he went searching for Vanoss, desiring to confide in him what he had seen. Only, Vanoss was nowhere to be found. He had been relieved of his position due to a request from his father, who had decided to cut ties with him for reasons unknown.

In the weeks that followed, Jericho continued to act the part of obedient admiral, all the while gathering information on the navy's connection to the smugglers. What he found was that the smugglers with the best access and the most riches - smugglers that didn't even need to smuggle to survive (unlike the majority of those unfortunate enough to be caught and jailed by the navy) - were given a free pass in exchange for giving navy officials a discount. This didn't sit right with Jericho, but who could he go to? He had no idea of the extent of the corruption, had no friends he could trust, no allies to turn to. And then, one cloudy morning, he found his answer. The attack was quick and merciless, the pirates cutting down any who dared to resist. Jericho immediately made his way to their apparent leader, dodging attacks and refusing to strike back, even when a few landed. He knelt before who he would later learn was Leo, a pirate feared for his use of spiked balls of lightening in his attacks, and requested to join his ranks. He was, of course, denied.

Once the ship was emptied and resistance quelled, the survivors were allowed to board the lifeboats and escape. They were warned against following the pirate ship, but Jericho followed anyway. He kept his distance, avoiding detection by covering his brightly colored feathers with a tarp. Eventually, they reached a port, where the ship docked for the night. Jericho snuck on board and headed towards the captain's quarters. A dagger to Leo's throat was all he needed to get the pirate to listen. The next day, Jericho officially joined the crew.

After about a year of learning all he could, he left to strike out on his own. He became a mercenary, taking great pleasure in accepting jobs that would get in the way of the Wind Clan's navy. He protects anyone who can pay for it, though he always refuses to work against Leo and his crew.

Fandragon Summary: Jericho is based off of a gaming youtuber named Tucker. I discovered his content through a youtuber who goes by Smitty, who I in turn discovered through the Banana Bus Squad AKA Vanoss Crew.

Forum Summary: Jericho's a mercenary for hire, and a good one at that. He's well educated and used to be an admiral in the Wind Clan's navy but ended up leaving when he saw how poorly the higher-ups handled cases of smuggling in the area. Now, he works to protect smugglers, pirates, warlords, adventurers - anyone who'll hire him, really. He values gold above all else, seeing it as a powerful tool. He works hard to gather good intel and stay well informed on the navy's actions. He works harder to avoid his former friends, staying on the run as they hunt him down by order of his ex-employers.

Forum Summary: Was in the Wind Clan navy until he realized the level of corruption and discrimination that occurred in higher ranks. He is now constantly on the run due to being hunted by his former friends.
