Biography
"I'm tired of being cold, Berg," he said to his best friend one day. "Here it is, the middle of spring, and the only thing that has thawed is Mother's heart towards our father," Slush griped to the hippalectryon snuggled close to his side.
Berg clicked his beak and chuffed under his breath, which earned an eye-roll from the Tundra. "I know, Berg!" he sighed. "But if we leave now, we'll upset father." Another grumble from the creature nestled beside him brought the Tundra to silent thought.
The next morning, his parents found a note in his nest that read: Dearest parents. I'm sorry, but the cold is too much for me. I've gone somewhere warm.
Slush landed on the disappearing island, exhausted and out of breath. He stretched out on the sunny beach and felt cold tension flow from his muscles for the first time in his short life. "This," he breathed to his best friend at his side, "is what paradise must be."
As he grew to understand the clan more, Slush found his passing interest in celestial bodies and the movements through the heavens was encouraged. Soon, he was spending his nights watching the stars and moon, studying their paths through the skies.
