Uh-oh, looks like this dreamwatcher wandered a little too far from his home lair (633029, BigB0yJENKINS), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

Dormas keeps a dream journal, but not for himself. He is a dreamwatcher, using his Skydancer empathy and highly specific powers of clairvoyance to peer into the minds of other dragons while they sleep. He finds the patterns and symbolism within dreams fascinating, and views an interesting dream the same way a birdwatcher might appreciate a particularly rare fowl. Others may be leery of his strange and somewhat invasive predilection, if not first of his eerily calm and polite disposition, but he will gladly offer his services to troubled or curious inquirers. He won't make a business of it, though; to him, this is just a hobby.

DREAM JOURNAL

7/27/2023
I've run out of space in my old dream journal, so it's about time I started a new one. I do enjoy the freshness of an empty notebook, brimming with potential.

The dream I saw today was full of ambiguity. It belonged to a masked Bogsneak sleeping near a beehive, and began in third-person. At a cliffside, droves of hatchlings walked to their deaths, as if they were lemmings. I did not sense any stress or fear in the dreamer, though, and the emotional wavelengths of the dream remained neutral. The next beat of the dream focused very closely on bees piercing many dragons' arms and legs, leaving colorful pictures instead of wounds. The imagery was very surreal, but the strangest thing is that it came from concrete memories, rather than being wholly conjured by the mind. I wonder what strange life this dragon leads. Could it have had to do with the beehive beside him...?

The dream continued on like this until the bees ceased to draw pictures and began to draw blood. The blood poured out in buckets, but leeched across the ground like watercolor paint when it fell. Still, the dreamer remained unperturbed - the imagery throughout had been so typical of nightmares, and yet this wasn't one. The dream shifted to first-person now, and the sight of the crimson watercolor had apparently signaled to the dreamer's mind that he was late for something. He began frantically packing his bags to leave his home, but fretted that he would not leave in time - in time for what, it was not clear, but it seemed that he was running to a specific place, rather than from this one. Ironically, this was the first and only point of the dream involving even somewhat negative emotions.

He woke up shortly after that.

This dragon's life seems far too unconventional for me to make many assumptions, but I can say with reasonable confidence that the imagery of hatchlings falling off a cliff was symbolic. The hatchlings themselves seemed neither memory-based nor completely fabricated, instead a hazy approximation of misremembered faces; however, this was not a traumatic event, perhaps instead being a call to action. The same call to action that drove him so urgently before awakening. Whatever this dragon's waking goals are, I hope that he achieves them.

I believe I've slept a long while, this time. I've walked in many dreams.

It can be hard to tell where I am, when I am here.

I started my journey wandering the ruins of an ancient battle. There was a brave fae, older than many I've met before. He had fought this war, I could tell, but now he stood among the wreckage, planting seeds and watching them grow before his eyes.

Beside him stood a proud mirror, carrying seeds of her own. The two of them tended the lands they had once scourged, nurturing new life around them.

I did not know the history of these dragons, but the sentiments were clear to me.

The dream became a haze, and faded, and I travelled on, into the minds of younger kin. I parsed the not-memories and wish-lives of the newly-hatched and flight-weary. A nature-born Banescale dreaming of fire and hearth, burning flames licking at bright scales, flickering playfully between distant nestmates. A shared warmth.

Fading into smoke, into darkness and glittering cold.

The crystalline dream-palace of a Gaoler, kin of shadow. Sinking vast claws into soft snow, bark-rough eggs of long-hatched babes nestled in her warm fur, protected from the world they roam in the waking world. They share the ice-sharp destiny she covets, yet still she holds them close.

I watch the close-held wishes of young dragons, then watch their eggs be hatched and warmed. I see such strange and wonderful things, impossibly distant companions reunited, ships sailed before they're built. I see wants and fears, desperation and love.

I wake up, and travel on once more.

I found myself here in this forest and I hear the branches move with the wind. I hear rushing water as like there is waterfall nearby.

I saw a female orange aether and she came to me in my dream.

She told me her name is Chinko.

I was surprise that I never gotten the names from the dragons that I dream about. I watch Chinko as she try to set up her Inn which is called River Inn. The dream is half sadness because there are only three visitors that had visit her Inn so far. She want to have more visitors to stay in her Inn and she is worry about her Inn the most.

I feel bad for her and she is try her best to have visitors to visit her Inn. Then, the dream fade into something really scary and dark. There is a group of shadowy figures appear at her Inn. Tearing apart her Inn into pieces and taking everything inside with them. Leaving her behind with a tear up Inn and she cry to see her Inn like this like it was just her home.

There are so many sadness in her dream and I wish I could help her out. But, I can't help her and her Inn.

I wish someone that will be there for her...

The dream soon come the end as If she had just woke up from her nightmare.

I wake up and I think is my time to travel more. I hope she is okay and has somebody to be there for her.

It feels like I've been sleeping a long time. Sometimes, I think I've only been asleep for a few minutes; sometimes, it feels like it's been months. Unusually, this was a dreamless sleep - rare for me, not to mention the unnatural length of sleep that I've been in.

It feels like I'm still dreaming, sometimes, even though I know I'm awake. Or am I?

I'm not sure how I found myself in this small garden clan. Perhaps I travelled here in my sleep. The dreams of the dragons here sung of hope and youth. This was a young clan, after all. The dragons here were still mostly fresh with new life and hope, still unburdened by the weight of age. I saw many dreams of dragons running freely without a care in the world, of falling in love, of being fulfilled and happy.

The warmth of their dreams warmed my heart. Sometimes, I wish I could stay in these dreams forever.

Staying with a clan near the Aergate, i've been able to view the dreams of several dragons, both young and old.
I've had quite the interesting time here, so many stories to be had in dreams of this many of my kin.

Though one dragon has the most interesting of dreams, the leader of the clan, a peculiar bogsneak, dreams of worlds quite unlike Sornieth, worlds where dragons are simply stories, myths told to the children of odd creatures that walked on 2 legs.
I can only guess as to what their story is, as they don't share willingly.
But who am I, a simple dreamwatcher, to question the journey of another?

I believe I will stay here for a few more days, before continuing on my own journey.
