Kapst was a normal pirate until one day when deim ship was "kapst"ized (capsized) and dei drowned. Instead of dying, however, dei was saved by some magical entity (a water faerie of Neopia, or perhaps the Tidelord himself? Maybe Neopia is where Tidedad has been hiding!?) and brought back as a water spirit. Dei was hatched with multigaze which seemed fitting of someone not quite corporeal anymore.

Dei discovered Sorneith while aiding Purled on her quest to find Lilac Island. When she asked diem why dei was helping a total stranger, dei solemnly said it was a pirate's sworn duty to aid weeping maidens and to answer the call for adventure.
