Whoever said that pride is an unattractive look on a dragon clearly hasn’t met Victory. This pompous Aberration is pure gold– literally– and refuses to be humble about it. He prowls through Sornieth with his head held high, relishing in the glory of his own existence. He tends to look upon others with disdain, believing himself to be superior to all. Every sentence he speaks exudes the utmost confidence. Instead of asking questions, he makes commands. Should he covet something, Victory is certain that none would dare to stand in his way. In the perpetual competition that is existence, this dragon will always come out on top by any means necessary. His desires are simple: ultimate power and, well, victory. Nothing more, nothing less. He would do anything to obtain what he wants, even if that means harming another dragon. He cares not for the livelihood of the weak. Victor takes all, and the losers… Well, there’s a reason they don’t have a truism of their own. Gold, fame, and glory are the trappings of this dragon’s high-maintenance lifestyle. With his eye continually on his desired prizes, there is very little he cannot accomplish. Victory is a winner, naturally. All else will crumble in his wake.

Victory inspires fear and awe in the hearts of many. Dragons shudder and tremble when his shadow graces their doorstep. Small creatures shriek a warning at the sound of his echoing footsteps. One might imagine this to be a lonely existence, but on the contrary, he has many admirers. They bring him offerings in the hope that he may someday favor them. They worship him as they would a god. Victory believes that this is what he truly deserves. He is a dragon unlike any other– a truly unique specimen. His scales glimmer, his teeth gleam, and his heart beats with the utmost vigor. He knows he is intimidating, to say the least. Some even find him frightening. Deep down, he feels that they envy him for his glory. What can he say? It’s easy for someone to wish for what they can never achieve. No one will ever be as gorgeous, intelligent, desirable, wealthy, and inimitable as Victory. He could go on with the adjectives, but he finds that the occasional bout of humility leaves his fans wanting more. His admirers long to follow in his footsteps or take his place. So long as he is alive, this will never happen.

Victory’s is a path best walked alone– save for his wife, Devilbane. Devilbane– the only dragon who proved to be a worthy match for one of the vainest Aberrations in Sornieth. They met on one of Victory’s journeys through the Rotrock Rim. He occasionally takes time to parade through the streets, breathing in the sheer adoration of his followers. He noticed her immediately because of how much she looked like him: the shimmering golden scales. The self-assured smirk. The elegant posture. He had to speak to her. However, before he could even get close, she had taken off, disappearing into the crowd. He saw her reappear several feet away, near a dark, dingy alley. What was someone so spectacular doing in such an ordinary locale? Victory bid his fans farewell without a single explanation and took off after the beautiful stranger. He followed her through the alley, around the back of a craggy hill– almost beyond the borders of the Rotrock Rim itself. She paused at the edge of a festering pool. Finally, she spoke: “Made you chase me.” If he hadn’t fallen in love before, he was surely enamored with her now. Clearly she had picked him first, not the other way around. The way she held herself– with power, grace, and self-assuredness– made him love her even more. The two of them are a perfect pair, forcing all who gaze upon them to enact their each and every whim. Plaguebringer take anyone who dares stand between them.

One might wonder what would bring such a prideful dragon to a landscape of rot and decay. The truth is that Victory enjoys living in a place where he is the most beautiful thing for miles. He wishes to be admired by others. This means creating the type of game where he’s certain to win every single time. The Plaguebringer’s domain is the perfect environment for this experiment. A diamond in the wastes. That’s what Victory calls himself. He will be appreciated all the more for his wealth and splendor. His court of admirers follows him everywhere they can, making long journeys to see him, on the off chance that he might remember their names. When he isn’t blessing hatchlings and counting treasures, this kingly dragon is off making powerful friends. He’s not quite a diplomat– he’s far too self-obsessed for that– but he does make quite the impression upon others. He’s known throughout the realm as a lord of sorts– the kind that amasses much and shares very little. For some, vanity is a curse. For Victory, it is a blessing, for besides Devilbane, there is none who would love him more than he loves himself.
