it is expected you learn how to fight on the boneyard.

the warlords and bloodlust and brutality, the stragglers all feral desperation. it is one thing to know how to kill, and another entirely to know how to fight. that limber, flowing dance that looks like more grace than deadly.

that is what jericho learned how to do.

his parents were multiheaded watchdogs, but the clan he ran with was devoted to the plaguebringer's prince, and therefore the culture followed them. oh, it was so difficult to learn the ways of a blade when his body was split into halves, two heads, two sets of arms, but he did it.

and he did it well. with an awe and wonder of someone who has never looked at death from the point of a sword.

it's true - jericho knew the fight, every end of a sword and how to wield it, but grew up knowing no harm. what foolish warlord would face down a piece of the plaguebringer herself? even the feral mirrors stayed their course.

by the time he left, he was wide-eyed and full of wonder, chasing glory; oblivious to the cruelties of sorineth he went out to seek them.
