The monster in the black pond

Black milk of daybreak we drink it at night
we drink it at midday and morning and we drink it at evening
we drink and we drink
Like the old Togesfuge, a man, a different man, lives in the house, he plays with his vipers, he writes when it grows dark
We don't see him.
We neigh shovel a grave, a single one, each spaced and admired and helping new herbs
He shouts, play death more sweetly, Death is a master
He shouts, scrape your strings darker
We have no strings, we watch the sun instead
We cook a shared meal, one very hearty, like us.
It sips like love, but swallows like the Togesfuge.
