Biography
Born with the mark of Plague's blessing of primal eyes, she was always regarded as a future leader for her element. She was taught in the ways of Plague, raised rigorously in its values and tenements, and put through sometimes violent trials so that she could fully realize her destiny.
She wanted none of it.
She didn't mind her heritage at all, but she desires not to be any sort of leader, political, psychic, or otherwise. She wanted to forge her own way in life and get to actually live life, not be held to the expectations of the religious caste of her clan.
Unfortunately, her desires were discovered, and so an attempt was made to seal her fate. She was transported against her will to the great melting pot of plague itself, and cast into it so that the fate she so wanted to face may choose for her.
The wyrmwound does not kill. It does not maim. It merely infects, inflicts, and changes; what these afflictions do to the body afterward depends on the host. Layek emerged from the wyrmwound with life and health still intact, save for the flesh rotting off her body in patches; nay, melting off her like searing, hot, feverish magma. Her own innate Plagueborn blessing allows her to withstand the constant caustic burn and pain and survive the living hell of incurable virus, but it isn't pretty--in any sense of the word.
Balms and ointments help with the pain, but never fully. Wrappings help to slow the decay and spread, and the tearing of skin. She takes the feeling of constant constriction over the feel of burned, scabbed skin ripping open from a stretch and then sloughing off only to leave the area freshly raw.
She will never forgive her clan for what they did, and is always wary of any fervency to elemental supremacy. She curses her birth clan, but is unsure of whether to thank her birth deity or curse her, as she is immune to the illnesses that ail most dragonkind.
At least, she is finally free to live her own life, as she'd always wanted.
