Ever since his birth, Marynn has been the center of attention. Fitting for a dragon who claims to have been born into royalty on a far-away ice floe in the Southern Icefields and has entered the Windswept Plateau to "expand his kingdom." He never shies away from an opportunity to brag on his royal blood, show off his crown, or act appropriately for a prince by whining and acting like a spoiled brat. Marynn is the most boisterous dragon in the clan, though his claims to royalty are seriously doubted. Wind representative and golden son Eventide is often seen hanging around Marynn, either spoiling for a duel over "princeship" of the clan or venting about his responsibilities to the one dragon who should understand his plight. Though Eventide says he does not believe in Marynn's claims, and is willing to fight whenever the question is raised, the Coatl is smugly convinced that Eventide does believe him and continues to string him along, waiting for the day he gives up and passes off his role. Asteria, Marynn's mate, is oddly silent with her opinion on his claims to royalty. She serves him and keeps him out of trouble, as if she were a princely consort, but she will not answer whether or not she believes him. The clan is divided in this matter -- she is very intelligent and should be able to see through his ruse (if it is one), but her actions belie any sense of denial in his royalty. The entire situation leaves the clan scratching their heads and plugging their ears whenever Marynn comes around, except for Wintergreen and the hatchlings, who enjoy hearing about his princely adventures in the Southern Icefields. |
