"The moon is singing! Can you hear Her too?"

Eccentric even for a Rotmarrow Fae, Claire might be the most un-Faelike Fae you ever meet. Left largely to her own devices by her parents Helen and Kellan, Claire gravitated towards Narumi more than anyone else and learned to use her crests for Guardian expressions rather than Fae ones. She's thus astonishingly easy to read for a Fae, and her Spiral heritage led her to have a very expressive voice. She seems to enjoy being so easy to read and can't lie for the life of her, even occasionally getting into 'lying contests' with her brothers Trevor and Mason to see who's the best at it; given that they've all lost equal amounts of times, they're clearly equally terrible at being dishonest.

Born with unusual yellow, almost iridescent eyes, Claire was obviously different from the rest of the Rotmarrow Clan. Though Plague magic came naturally to her like any other dragon born into the Flight, she had absolutely no interest in it. After convincing Narumi to make it snow outside the Lair one night and watching the moonlight glitter across it, she knew that she wanted to join Twila as one of the Clan's Moon Priestesses. It took her a few months, but she had a startling aptitude for the magic, scripture and rituals involved, taking to it like a fish to water. She became the Maiden, often seeing hopeful portents where Twila saw nothing, but could tell something should be there.

Easily the most friendly and enthusiastic prophet in the Clan, Claire has always loved telling her Clanmates' fortunes and does so free of charge. This led to her meeting Ignatius when his parents came to her and Twila to read their children's futures. She and Ignatius quickly became friends, and his sister Marionberry became the third Moon Priestess. Claire and Ignatius eventually fell in love, encouraged by Claire foreseeing great happiness in their future- however, they ignored Marionberry's portents of disaster in store for them, assuming that she simply didn't want Claire to be part of the family.

Claire was just as heartbroken as Ignatius when two of their three children were swallowed by the sea, blaming herself for their deaths because of her failure to take heed of Marionberry's warnings. She and Ignatius agreed to take a break from their partnership after Katharina was old enough to stake her own claim to part of the Lair, though they remain close friends and Claire is the only one who visits Ignatius in his outpost by the shore.
