Epione was critical of any clan she came across. As a wandering doctor, she was never hurting for work, but a place to rest her claws? That was more difficult.

She cycled through a few clans before ending up at an outpost for wayward dragons. It promised to find a place for Epione, one that would accept her and appreciate her talents. That's what the last two clans had said. 'It's only inevitable' Epione had chided, 'that one day they'll find something to hate me for.'

Nevertheless, she found herself in Arcane territory, having been hired by a Pearlcatcher who had so obviously been a Nocturne until recently. The way he subconsciously mimicked her speech - though not her body language, he appears blind - and the way he moved... It only spurred on her curiousity. She'd go to this clan for work, even if only for a short time.

This may well have come through, if it hadn't been for Cal. The guard visited her often with minor injuries and to check that he was in good shape, and somehow they ended up forming a bond.

Epione had never pictured herself as the type to settle down. 'It was easier that way', she would say, 'you couldn't be hurt if you never showed your soft side.' Cal would chuckle at that, saying he had been the same way once. He had been scared, too, of belonging. But then he had found a home here, he had found love in a Fae who left so many years ago, and now - maybe he's learning to love again.

Perhaps, Epione is learning to love, too.
