they're on their own, not with a pack, not even with other dragons, unusual for a mirror. alone in a tiny room tucked into a corner of the waterway. mildewy paper lays on a desk in front of them. familiar faces are sketched onto them. a one-eyed, snarling ridgeback has en entire sheet devoted to her. a pearlcatcher with a broken horn is alongside the rest of his family - another pearlcatcher, much older than the others. a skydancer with an elegant posture and a giant red X drawn through her sketch. and others, skydancers and pearlcatchers alike, all bearing the resemblance of family. others are scattered around, too. a massive old guardian. a thin imperial. a skydancer, unrelated to the others, who looks confident, a note scribbled near her face.
caeruleus stabs a claw into her face. then they turn and march out of the waterway. as they do, several other beings join them. no other dragons, but beastclans and animals of the waterway, as though summoned, yet nothing was done to alert them. as a group, they move through the lands above, tracking their quarry across the continent.
