OH NO, OLD LORE

Precious
The Precious Prince
Spearmint As you enter the town, you see many neat, clean cottages and a low cobblestone wall lining the way between them and the garden. The village is rather calm, and many residents are quietly chattering to one another. Several dragons bustle along on their ways to work, while others are already inside their own shops or merchant stalls. The smooth road stretches forward, twisting by the buildings and leading towards the castle, which is towering high above.

Forare

"Never agonize a scientist while he works."

Forare is facing away from you scribbling something down on a sheet of paper. As you approach him, he seems to sense you and raises a claw as if to say, "I'm busy. Leave me alone."
He is Swamplurk's scientist.
Forare came from far away. He is quite mysterious and rarely speaks, prefering to study quietly by himself. Although he seems stern at times, his love for Irridecence sometimes allows a fond smile. He can often be seen conducting strange experiments and creating even stranger machines. Nobody except Forare even knows what the machines do. Although he is usually deathly quiet when working, sometimes he'll cackle gleefully if something works out. If something fails though, everyone nearby will let out a groan because they have to clean again.
Story: Experimental
Forare stared hard at the disgraceful scorch marks left over from yet another failed invention. He took a deep breath and released it, trying to cool his anger. Turning his head, he noticed Firstborn standing a few feet away, utterly shocked at the enormous mess.
Shelves lay splintered upon the floor, seared books lay in toppled heaps, and experimental chemicals were spilled dangerously across the ground. A few sparks sizzled nearby and something popped.
"Forare," Firstborn started, his voice cracking in anger, "I've had it. I try, and I try to be patient, but this has crossed the line."
Forare could sense how upset the Imperial had become. And why shouldn't he be? This was all Forare's fault anyway. He knew deep inside that he should say something, but as always, Forare didn't.
Firstborn shook his head. "You should leave," he spat.
For once in his life, Forare took his advice and started out of the room. Why did everything have to blow up in his face? Nothing ever worked out for him. Not his inventions, not his voice, not his friends... But then again, Firstborn wasn't his friend.
Forare bit his lip and stopped in the hallway. He had got into so much trouble when he was a kid... Nothing he said was right, and nothing he did was right. Eventually, Forare had just kept his mouth shut. And now, just like everything else, that had backfired. He let his eyes wander to the open window. I need to go apologize. He was being such a jerk. And for what? Just because he had a hard past, that didn't give him the excuse to make everyone else's life miserable. No wonder he was so alone.
Forare forced himself to turn around and march back into the lab.
Firstborn was busy tidying up the large mishap, lifting up shelves and patting out the flaming books. When he saw Forare enter, he let out a sigh.
"Firstborn," Forare said after a few seconds, struggling to talk after so much silence. It felt so strange to hear his voice again. "I'm really sorry about this. I-I never meant for any of this. I know you'll never want to be my friend, and-" he sighed, "maybe it's better that I'm alone. I'm obviously not meant to have friends anyway. I'll help clean this up. It was my fault anyway..." He bent down and started to lift up a shelf.
"You know, Forare," Firstborn replied after a moment, "you're not completely bad. I mean, you were super mean to me all this time that we worked together, but I did learn a lot from you. Friends forgive each other... So... I guess I forgive you too." He finished shoving the shelf back upward and walked over to Forare. "If you wanted, I'd be happy to be your friend."
"Really?" Forare asked skeptically, gesturing to the room, "After all this?"
Firstborn laughed a little, then smiled. "You need to socialize more. Feeling secluded is never a good feeling--trust me, I know."
Forare stared at him. "Well, you've surprised me. You're taking this whole mess pretty well..."
"We all make mistakes, Forare. What's important is that you learn from them--that's why I'm giving you a second chance." Firstborn looked around the room again and sighed. "But please, let's not ever do that again."
This time, Forare was the one who chuckled. "Agreed."

Marmalade

Okra
He's like a big ol' squishy floof puppy that's slightly foolish.

Kettle
Kettle jumps when you tap him on the shoulder. "Oh! Oops," he says, turning clumsily toward you. He chuckles nervously. "Good daybreaking-! I mean, umm, morning! Yes, morning! Good morning!"
Because of how hilarious he naturally is, he has become a jester.
The comical Kettle is always doing silly things, even if he isn't meaning to. He seems to have terrible luck with anything and continually messes up nearly everything he does. He also makes puns without meaning to or says things that he didn't mean to say. Although he is actually a very nervous and shy dragon, he tries to cover it up with a smile. He gets embarrassed easily.

Firstborn
Story: Experimental
Firstborn let out a groan. He couldn't help it. Why, of all dragons, did she have to pick Forare? He should have just kept his mouth shut.
"Firstborn, you've been griping about Forare's messes for months now. What better way for you to talk things out than being his assistant? Look, we both know that you've been feeling underappreciated. Frostwings told me that you wanted to have a more worthwhile job!" Swamplurk said, shuffling through some papers on her desk. "As far as I'm concerned, this is a great opportunity to both get what you want! It'll be good for Forare to have company, and you can make a bigger difference. Maybe you can even talk to Forare about all the work you put into keeping our castle beautiful, hmm?"
Firstborn dipped his head and let out a sigh. "Forare isn't one to talk, much less listen," he grumbled.
Swamplurk gave him a sympathetic look. "You'll be fine. Maybe you might even become, I don't know, friends?"
"Friends?" Firstborn asked, skeptical. "Right, sure. Whatever." He crossed his arms, still somewhat irritated at the fact that he would have to deal with Forare for a whole week.
After moving around another stack of scrolls, Swamplurk looked back up. "Forare already agreed to the idea... sort of. Anyway, he'll be waiting for you in his lab. Good luck!"
"Thanks," Firstborn said blankly, turning around and starting out of the room. Why did I go to Frostwings? What was I thinking?
As soon as he entered the lab, Firstborn knew the week was going to be a bad one. Forare looked pretty aggrivated, and when Firstborn had tried to tidy up the room, he had accidentally broken a small mechanism. Yep. This was going to be a crazy week.

Tangerine Sunrise Goldvarnish

Secret agency known as the White Scarves.

Cocoathorn
Mate of Kettle
She serves as the top guard besides the general.
Cocoathorn is serious, obedient, and responsible. She is sometimes grumpy and likes to stay away from most dragons, and she is always suspicious of newcomers. Although she is tough, she is easily swooned by Kettle.

Firstborn's brothers: Fogwhisper
"Be sure that the advice you give is actually good."
and Pondgrass
"Keep your mind focused on the right things."
Fogwhisper yawns before saying, "Hi..."
He is a stage performer.
Fogwhisper, like his brother Pondgrass, is extremely calm and logical. He is a magician and can make magnificent illusions. However, he does not practice real magic like some of the dragons in Swamplurk's lair. He is very laid-back and hardly worries when things seem to be going bad. He often seems tired and yawns a lot.

You spot a larger building by the road that is a dark shade of brown. It has several large circular windows, and lining its sides are other small windows shaped like rectangles. Two neatly trimmed hedges are on both sides of the doorway, and a large golden plaque above the entrance reads "Library". When you come inside, you instantly pick up the smell of old books.

A Skydancer is leaning against the check-out desk, staring at an enormous volume.
Pondgrass continues to read his book, unaware of your presence.
He is a librarian.
Pondgrass is calm and logical, and he prefers to think things through very carefully. He often worries about things and gets startled when something unexpected occurs. He usually reads books in his quiet study. He is quite shy, and, despite his wife's best efforts, he rarely joins social activities.
Although many do not know this, he is part of a secret agency known as the White Scarves. He is also secretly known as the Mysterious Detective!

"Pondgrass! Pondgrass! Pondgrass!" Venom squealed, leaping around the room as if her tail had suddenly become a blazing stick of dynamite.

She makes medicines and deals with herbal remedies.

She is the event manager of Swamplurk's lair and is in charge of parties.
The enthusiastic Venom can't back down when it comes to throwing parties. She loves to organize events, plan parties, and assist others. She gets excited easily and talks super quickly, and she is extremely friendly. Some of her many talents include dancing, acting, and puppeteering.
Venom brings a lot of joy to her family, and is absolutely devoted to them. She loves her husband greatly, and they are often seen chatting together when not working. She writes to her children every day, assuring them that she's always going to be there for them.
Story: Wedding Wishes
"I'm so happy for you!" Venom yipped, dashing over to her calendar. "When are you planning the wedding? A month from now? Two weeks? Oh, oh! Next week?"
Fatepearl shuffled around. "Well, umm. We were actually thinking... Like, as soon as possible..."
"Would tomorrow work?" Nightflicker stated bluntly.
"Tomorrow?" Venom choked. "Tomorrow?"
Nightflicker and Fatepearl nodded happily.
Venom blinked in surprise. "Whoa!"
"Would that be okay?" Fatepearl asked. "I know it's a pretty huge request..."
"Fatepearl, Nightflicker," Venom said, giving them a salute, "I won't let you down. If you want to get married tomorrow, you're gonna get married tomorrow!"
"Thank you so-" Fatepearl started, relieved.
"No time!" Venom interrupted. "You both need to get some sleep for the big day! And I need to make wedding cards. Lots of wedding cards... Hurry along now!" Venom called, pushing them out of her office. "Go get plenty of rest!"
The couple smiled and waved at her as they walked off in separate directions.
Venom waved back, then she grabbed out a piece of paper and began to quickly scribble something down.

Although Desertflower was born as an Arcane dragon, her parents sent her away to live in a desolate desert area in order for her to learn how to survive. She was named and raised by two nomad twins who were almost always bickering with each other. One evening, a lone Nocturne dragon arrived at their tent and begged for water. He stayed for a long time, and Desertflower began to grow very fond of him. When he finally decided to leave, Desertflower made up her mind to travel with him. After getting married, they decided to settle down at his homeland in the forest. She had gotten used to the harsh, dry environment of her sandy home though, and she still knows many skills to this day.

He's not grumpy! He's just... serious. But yeah, he can get a bit stern.
Thorm casts a glance at you. "Welcome! Er, you might want to stay away from Ria for a little while. She gets anxious around newcomers."
He works as an antique dealer with his wife.
Thorm is patient, responsible, and kind. When he was younger, he had all kinds of adventures with his best friend Ria. They were explorers together and traveled all through the lands, but after falling in love, they both decided to settle down at Swamplurk's lair. However, sometimes the call of adventure is too strong, and the pair will leave every so often to explore.

Ria swirls around frantically when she notices you. "Oh boy! A newcomer! A traveler! A new dragon! Hi there! I'm Ria! Who are you?! Are you staying long?!" she gushes, then gasps. "Are you moving in?!"
She sells antiques and owns her own shop.
Ria is excitable, friendly, and hyper. When upset or afraid, she wraps around Thorm's neck or ties herself into a knot. She gets anxious easily. When she was younger, she had all kinds of adventures with her best friend Thorm. They were explorers together and traveled all through the lands, but after falling in love, they both decided to settle down at Swamplurk's lair. However, sometimes the call of adventure is too strong, and the pair will leave every so often to explore.
Hear that? That's adventure calling!

Nezraeth "Ezra" Lightgrin Vinetangle
He is a gardener.
Ezra is a pumpkin fairy. There's nothing he'd rather do than spend all day in his patch, hiding among the fruits and tending to them. He's extremely shy and humble, and he gets nervous easily. Despite how anxious he is, he loves to play games. Mentioning hide-and-seek or tag will immediately cheer him up. He is naturally calm and patient with others, though he can become upset with himself. Unlike his tired father, Ezra has a hard time falling asleep. He often stays awake for hours after the sun sets, staring apprehensively at the glittering stars above. He carved out one of the pumpkins he grew and placed a candle inside, then he enchanted it with special magic so that it hardened and turned into a strange petrified type of rock. This durable lantern served as a nice bedroom, so he also stuffed it with a few soft pillows to lay down on. He also placed a spell on the candle to make it last for many years before needing replacement. Although the magic he uses mostly only corresponds to growing or shapeshifting pumpkins, he also has a few fire abilities as well. His magic becomes especially powerful during the autumn.
"Ezra tugged anxiously on his mane, then raised his eyes to look toward the horizon. The sun had only barely peeked above the skyline, and the land was still mostly dark besides a sliver of orange outlining the trees."
One year, a terrible famine began to plague the pumpkin patches across the continent. No matter how hard he tried or how much magic he used, Ezra was unable to revive his withering plants. The despair was almost unbearable. Finally, Ezra remembered something his mother had told him. He could find the answer if he spoke to the Ancient Fairy--at least, that's what he hoped. Burying his fears, Ezra packed up a satchel, placed a walnut shell helmet upon his head, and began the journey to the Dead Woods. After he entered the dry, decaying forest, he encountered a pond fairy named Onyx. She was lying silently within a murky pond, aching and alone. A radioactive smog had settled over the water, and it had been poisoning her over time. She had spent a long time in that pool, hoping the forest would grow back and the animals would return... But throughout the years, it never did. Ezra took pity on the desolate fairy and lifted her onto his back to carry her to the Ancient Fairy. In doing so, however, he was unable to fly and had to walk the rest of the distance. During the pair's adventure, Onyx's lameness was healed and her health was restored. Ezra also achieved what he wanted--hope. They returned to his patch to find that all of his pumpkins were vibrant and thriving. Onyx made her home in a pond right beside Ezra's garden, and the couple fell in love and got married shortly after.
I absolutely love this boy and his luxurious pile of hair. He's such a cutie.
He loves it when fall arrives and leaves fall from the trees. Even when everything seems to wither away and die, he knows it will all grow back again. Besides his rejuvenating powers to grow plants, he can also wilt them if needed. This ability helps when he needs to remove pestering weeds from his pumpkin patch.

Witherwood, examining the soil surrounding himself, is by a lush green bush spilling over with red roses. As he faces toward you, he smiles slightly and tips his hat.
"Witherwood squatted down, lowering his claws and brushing them across the soil gently. For a few silent moments, he just kneeled there, staring at the ground in gloomy observation. Finally, he let out a sigh and rose to his feet.
The forest had not faired too well ever since the great fire swept across the Province. The magic was doing more harm than good, growing plants so fast that nothing had time to heal and sprout up again in true rejuvenation. Everything was green again and seemingly healthy, but it was just a mask. Witherwood knew there was rot beneath the woods. The ashes would not leave just yet, and neither would the pain..."
Witherwood keeps watch over the forests by Swamplurk's lair, and he cares about all the nature. If dragons come into the territory to hurt the forest or kill a lot of animals, he gets upset and tries to stop them. Sometimes his missions can become quite dangerous when dragons become violent. He occasionally returns to the lair with new scars or fresh wounds. Like many dragons at Swamplurk's lair, Witherwood values family and has a good relationship with his wife and children. Although many of his kids have moved away, he continually writes them letters to check up on how they are doing. Do to them both working a lot, Witherwood tends to only see his wife in the evening when most dragons go home to rest. Despite this fact, they are still very close.
He cares for the plants and creatures much like the nature dragons that surround him, and he is steadfast when it comes to defending the forests.

Journal Entry
I am afraid. I have not updated this journal in a few weeks, due to a large disaster that has struck the Province. A fire has swept through. It burned down a lot of forest and badly damaged the field, but the village was mostly protected.
However, the drakes have united and begun using magic to "heal" our land. This is what concerns me. We are not giving our land true time for healing, and it seems as if we are only putting a blanket over the embers. Everyone has been saying that everything looks as vibrant as ever, but they're wrong. I feel something inside, a sense of foreboding the likes of which I've only felt once before. This is not the end of our troubles. Things will be fine for now, but I know something ominous is coming.
The fall is approaching.

"Things pass quicker than you know... Relish every moment."

Traveling down the smooth road, you see a shop called "Alabaster Apparels" and decide to check out the inside. It smells fresh within, and everything is tidy and clean. There is a large white table by the back wall, and several racks of clothes are aligned in separate rows.

Tide is a total surfer dudette. She always visits the ocean and loves to surf the most dangerous waves she can find. After all, 'Why fly when you can ride the waves, bro!' She is very friendly and laid-back.

Majestic and calm, Rainwater is truly a lovely dragon, even if she just has skin rather than scales. She is incredibly patient, and, although quiet, she is super optimistic about things. She loves taking walks in Cocoabee's garden, whether it be at morning, evening, or even night. She usually sticks to shadows as the sun burns her fragile skin. She likes to hum and has a beautiful voice. It is such a rare occurrence to hear her voice though, that anyone who hears her sing is said to have a year's worth of good fortune. She usually observes nature while combing through her shimmering mane. Midnight is her favorite time to be active.

"Remember that when it rains, it will be sunny elsewhere."
You see a whimsical Pearlcatcher adorned in a crazy outfit bound up to you in wild excitement. He makes you think of an eccentric fairytale character.
Fatepearl gives you a huge smile. "Oh, a newcomer! I'm so glad you've visited! My name is Fatepearl. By the way, isn't it just the most beautiful day you've ever seen?!"
Mate: Nightflicker
He's a gatherer.
Fatepearl takes after his mother's regal appearance and has his father's gift of prophecy. He occasionally gazes into his pearl and sees fragments of the future, but only the happy ones. He is quite the gentleman and is super polite; and he doesn't fight back against rude dragons, often taking insults with a calm smile or laughing when someone pulls a mean prank. He is incredibly optimistic because of all the happy futures he views. He is hopelessly in love with Nightflicker, and he treats her like a princess. Although he's a great friend, asking his advice on fashion is just a bad idea. His visions are more frequent in fall.

Fatepearl stumbled from the cave entrance, still confused about why Gardenglow had woken him up at such a hour.
"Uncle! Guess what? I just did something to the plants!" Gardenglow gushed, smiling widely. She whipped around and stared at a wilted flower.
Fatepearl shivered. It was early morning, and the air still had frost gathering in it instead of water. He wished spring would come soon. Winter was amazing, but he did love warmer days and green plants.
The flower brightened and sprung open after a second, and Fatepearl did a double take. "Whoa!"
"I did it! I made it open!" Gardenglow shrieked gleefully, dancing around the stunned Pearlcatcher.
He continued to stare at the flower. It was starting to get bigger now, and light began to emanate from it. "Whoa," he said again after a moment, trying to get his tired brain working. "That's interesting."
Finally, the little Coatl hatchling calmed down. "Isn't it?" she beamed.
She had plant powers? How could she-- Wait. Was it nature abilities, or was it season powers? He frowned and scratched his head. Then came the vision.
{Gardenglow, a bright young adult speaking with her mother. She smiled, then reached outward with her wings. The snow began to melt, and plants began to spring upward. Then time reversed slightly. She was speaking to Depthgazer this time. She nodded.} The vision ended quickly.
"I guess that settles it then!" Fatepearl declared, patting Gardenglow gently on her head. "Let's go show your mom what you did to the flower!"
Gardenglow smiled again. "Yeah!"
First Date
Fatepearl trembled slightly, butterflies racing through his stomach in a never-ending circus. He wasn't usually the type to be nervous, but today he was unsure. He. Was. Unsure. Why couldn't he see his own destiny? He saw everyone else's, but for some reason he had no clue what was going to happen in just a few minutes. Was it because it was going to end badly?
Fatepearl swallowed and sat down. He hadn't considered that. He knew about his tendency to only see happy moments, and he was usually satisfied with that. But what if something bad was about to happen?
He felt faint. He felt like Honeyslime.
"Oof," Fatepearl murmured. "Get it together."
Nightflicker was sitting outside, her elegant form outlined from the setting sun. Nightflicker. His best friend. They had known each other ever since Hatchday.
Fatepearl closed his eyes, thinking back to the day she had become his friend. It was a chilly morning, and the children had been playing together. Nightflicker was sitting off the the side, watching all the action but not taking part. Even when she was younger, she had acted like a nursery guardian. Fatepearl had wobbled right up to her, without a care in the world, and squeaked out, "Hi! Wanna be my friend? I think we're supposed to be!" Nightflicker had given him a confused look and replied, "Sure."
He smiled. I can do this.
Getting back to his feet, Fatepearl started outside toward Nightflicker. His body suddenly felt queasy again.
"Hey!" Fatepearl said nervously, squirming fretfully as he took a seat. "N-Nightflicker."
Nightflicker continued to gaze at the lowering sun. She casually moved her tail aside so he would have enough room.
"Uhh, heh," Fatepearl continued. "I-I was wanting to... Uhh... Well, I was thinking..."
Sweat began to condense on his face. Why was this so hard?
"Uhherrahh," Fatepearl garbled, trying to find the best way to ask her. "Nightflicker, I-I was w-wondering..."
Finally, Nightflicker looked over at him and smiled softly.
Caught completely off guard, Fatepearl gasped and stared at her face. Wait a second. Did she just smile? He went pale.
A few seconds passed.
Nightflicker gently touched the tip of her snout to Fatepearl's.
For a moment, Fatepearl didn't move. Then he closed his eyes and kissed her back.

Terracotta

She works as a shepherd.

Name disappeared for many months after going up a large mountain in order to find minerals. When she finally returned, she never seemed quite the same. She acted partially lost and distant, and some dragons were not entirely sure she was completely there. Some myths say that an avalanche crushed her body, and a magic bird brought her back to life. Although nobody knows if this is true or not, she frequently visits the mountains and caves. Sometimes she stays many days there without food or water.

Bamboo

Although few know this, she is the Summer Seasonwaker. She gave Honeyslime Summer's Gift, which enables him to live as long as she does.

Honeyslime
M Pearl
Honeyslime releases a scream, jumps at least a yard into the air, and nearly makes a run for it when he notices you. He turns pale. "Oh, s-s-sorry. Y-you frightened me..."
Honeyslime is super clumsy and jumpy. His dreams of being a great detective are massively hampered by his continuous fears. He is super sweet, but faints at the sight of blood. If any sort of fight is occurring, you'll most likely find him cowering in the lair holding his arms over his head in fear. Unlike many Pearlcatcher dragons, he is very humble. Many dragons call him the 'Yellow Coward' when Bamboo can't hear. She is usually the one who challenges mockers, and she is Honeyslime's best friend.
Although few know this, Bamboo gave him Summer's Gift, and he will live a long time.

Fallow
Fallow stands shakily on his feet and smiles at you. After a long moment, he finally says in a friendly voice, "Hi!"
He works at a restaurant and cooks food.
Fallow is always cold, even when the day is blisteringly hot. His body even produces chilly air. An accidental incident caused this problem long ago. He is shy, clumsy, and nervous. He is very unsteady on his feet and staggers when trying to move. When walking, he stumbles and trips on anything, and he will sometimes fall over and have to get back up. He smiles almost constantly and takes a while to respond to any questions, making it hard to have long conversations with him. He is super sweet and tries to be helpful.
Although few know this, he is the Seasonwakers' Harvestbringer, and he helps to link summer and fall.

She owns a grocery stall and sells fresh fruit and vegetables.

When walking, plants begin to push out of the ground around her feet. She always has a garden-like aura surrounding her, and she smells like flowers.
Although few know this, she is the Spring Seasonwaker.

"Being loud doesn't always mean being heard."

Boneyard
Boneyard watches you with dark eyes. "Come on down to our tavern later... I'm sure we'll have something that you'll like."
Job: She is a tavern owner.
The eerie, slithering Boneyard is the owner of Splinterbone Tavern. Some say that the cups she serves drinks in were carved from the bones of those she's killed, and other myths go as far to say that she is a cannibal. Another popular story is that she stole Junglemoss's heart and wears it in a pendant around her neck, making him madly in love with her. However, despite the many clouds of rumors cloaked about her, she has yet to show any evidence of the accusations some have made. She is usually quiet and is rather shy, but she sometimes smiles nervously.

Plunge
He works as a fisherman.
Some myths say that Plunge was drowned long ago during a storm at sea, and that he was brought back to life by a magic seahorse. Although nobody really knows if this is true or not, he frequently visits the ocean or other deep water sources. He can stay underwater for weeks without coming up for air, and many get an uneasy feeling around him. He wears extremely heavy apparel and will sink into the depths in order to catch fish.

Name tilts her head at you and smiles. "Hello, friend," she says in a somewhat echoing voice.
She is a gardener.
When Name first visited the lair, nobody was quite sure she was actually present. Many will get an odd feeling when standing by her, and they will sometimes believe she is not completely there. Some myths say that she was once killed and buried in a forest, and that a magic coyote brought her back to life again. Although nobody really knows if this is true, she does visit the woods a lot. Sometimes, she will stay in the forests for days without eating or drinking.

Frostwings
For a few moments, Frostwings stares into space, oblivious to your presence. He finally notices you and blinks slowly. "Welcome, traveler," he drones, "this lair is run by Swamplurk. It is also run by Dunegrasper. Autumnwalker is our doctor..." He continues dully, stating things you already know. Eventually, he moves on to the history of the cave and how it is very special, but you are bored and nearly asleep by this point.
He is a therepist.
Frostwings is calm and patient, easily dealing with dragons who would normally irritate others. Although a bit dull or oblivious at times, he is polite and kind. He can calm most upset dragons with ease. He almost never reveals if he is angry, and he usually has a blank face expression or a faint smile. He knows a lot of facts (especially obvious ones) and studies history. Cool air radiates off his scales, and he has adapted to frigid temperatures in the ocean. He can naturally breathe underwater, and is an excellent swimmer.
We Get Through
Frostwings remembered. He remembered the day that he had first met her. Oakfall, secluded in the darkest forest, had been angry when he showed up. Or maybe others just mistook her fear and sadness for anger.
Frostwings knew how she really felt. She was scared. She covered it up by being grumpy and mean.
Somehow though, Frostwings convinced her to leave the shadows. Oakfall became more patient and friendly... She was finally happy. That made him happy too.
When the news first came, he had suddenly felt so unsure. He felt like how she once felt. Sad, angry, lonely... Scared.
Oakfall told him that it would be okay. She said he should take his own counselling advice and calm down. The sickness would go away. Somehow, it would leave her.
But she left it first.
He stopped acting like himself and started lashing out. He yelled and pulled at his feathers, and he hid away... He could not bear the pain. She was gone, and it felt like part of him was gone too. He had saved her once, but only for her to be taken by the disease. There was no saving her this time...
He watched silently as the rain rolled softly down the window's glass. Shutting his eyes, he breathed in and tried to remind himself of who he was. He was Frostwings. He was a therapist who always managed to help others.
A tear slid softly down his face. Then why..? Why couldn't he help himself?
